For Consumers Whose Health Premiums Will Go Up Under New Law, Sticker Shock Leads To Anger

Americans who face higher insurance costs under President Obama’s health-care law are angrily complaining about “sticker shock,” threatening to become a new political force opposing the law even as the White House struggles to convince other consumers that they will benefit from it.

The growing backlash involves people whose plans are being discontinued because the policies don’t meet the law’s more-stringent standards. They’re finding that many alternative policies come with higher premiums and deductibles.

After receiving a letter from her insurer that her plan was being discontinued, Deborah Persico, a 58-year-old lawyer in the District, found a comparable plan on the city’s new health insurance exchange. But her monthly premium, now $297, would be $165 higher, and her maximum out-of-pocket costs would double.

That means she could end up paying at least $5,000 more a year than she does now. “That’s just not fair,” said Persico, who represents indigent criminal defendants. “This is ridiculous.”

If the poor, sick and uninsured are the winners under the Affordable Care Act, the losers appear to include some relatively healthy middle-income small-business owners, consultants, lawyers and other self-employed workers who buy their own insurance. Many make too much to qualify for new federal subsidies provided by the law but not enough to absorb the rising costs without hardship. Some are too old to go without insurance because they have children or have minor health issues, but they are too young for Medicare.

I’ve been criticized on here for saying it.
But stories like this seem to confirm my view that Obamacare rewards Obama voters and punishes others.

Waivers for unions
Subsidies and medicaid for the low income

The Affordable Care Act

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

My only concern is if people don’t rise up in large enough numbers to stop it
once it gets going and collapses the only solution would be single payer
it must be stopped before all the free loaders actually get the benefit

good grief...this is all the things that most of the people on here (freerepublic) and around the country at town hall meeting were saying would happen...and we were ridiculed for it.

This is just the money part — and just the beginning.

They, and their families, will be killed by
government neglect and torture, the DNC, and Unions

**unless they are protected under exemption
as family or staff of the Congress, or DNC head,
or convert to Islam.

While up to 7 million of free loaders will get free health care:

Under Health Care Act, Millions Eligible for Free Policies

Millions of people could qualify for federal subsidies that will pay the entire monthly cost of some health care plans being offered in the online marketplaces set up under President Obama’s health care law, a surprising figure that has not garnered much attention, in part because the zero-premium plans come with serious trade-offs.

Three independent estimates by Wall Street analysts and a consulting firm say up to seven million people could qualify for the plans, but federal officials and insurers are reluctant to push them too hard because they are concerned about encouraging people to sign up for something that might ultimately not fit their needs.

Essentially, you pay double or triple what you paid before, and you get catastrophic coverage with a deductible high enough you would normally never fill it.

And if you get sick enough to blow by the exaggerated deductible, you’ve got that death panel thing waiting for you.

Working Americans are screwed, as are Seniors.

But Obama’s dependency non-working class will “win”.

On the path to Third World status at breakneck speed.

Only Cruz, Lee and some others are trying to stop us from getting to Hell really fast.

“..the losers appear to include some relatively healthy middle-income small-business owners, consultants, lawyers and other self-employed workers who buy their own insurance.’

As you say, these are not Obama voters.

Here is the answer.

1. Change your religion to Amish or one of the others excepted.

2. Go to cash only clinics. I know of many Docs & Dentists that will be forming these. These will be much cheaper as no Insurance ppwk or regs. My Dentist already syas skip the inuracne and he will give 20% off.

Move to Belize

I would say that “anger” is mild based on what I’ve been hearing from people.

For reasons of my own, I’ve been going to cash only clinics for years now and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the cost and quality of the care.

I don’t know what obamacare is going to do to me, but my intention is to continue doing what I’ve been doing.

After all the Administration lies about ObamaCare do you really think anyone’s gonna trust Obama with health care decisions?

Can’t wait to see the expressions on the faces of seniors as they discover Obama’s going to take money FROM Medicare Advantage Plans and give it to ObamaCare... Of course not until after the sign up period closes...

“...because they are concerned about encouraging people to sign up for something that might ultimately not fit their needs.”

People who were happy with their health insurance were so precisely because it “fit their needs.” Oh, the irony that the bastards in Washington are now concerned about the plans they dictated people buy might not “fit their needs.”

These people are recklessly, dangerously stupid.

I ride with a Volunteer Ambulance Company, and they were talking at the meeting the other night that since there are more than 50 members they may be forced to buy insurance for the members.

We stay in business trough donations, how many will donate so mmbers can have insurance. It might close us down.

I have samaritanministries.org and we pay each others health bills. I get a naaame from them each month and I send my share amount to them. It is $165.00 a month for a single person and I think $300.00 a month for 2 or more and I am exempt from obamacare.
