My Boy Steny Hoyer doesn’t have to worry. Maryland is filled with Obama voters , people with the mentality of Sheila Jackson Lee who will keep carrying Steny in office until he overdoses on kissing Pelosi’s butt.

I probably should revise that statement I think the GOP probably can’t screw up more unless of course they campaign against the Tea Party and insist on pushing Amnesty but even then the fall out from Obamacare may be so big as to dwarf any scewup they make. I think this Obamacare thing is going to kill the Democrats honestly. Its becoming a reality everyday how very screwed up it is and how very much the President lied about it. People are losing their healthcare and facing huge additional costs and that is something people will take personally and they will vote on it.

> “It’s true that attitudes toward the Republican Party have taken a bigger hit than attitudes toward the Democratic Party, but attitudes toward actual incumbents are exactly the opposite. And in elections, that’s what matters.”

The reason for the bigger hit to the Republican Party is because their base is fed up with them.

The hit to democrat incumbents reveals attitudes independent of the republican base.

If the Republicans spent half as much time, energy, and resources going after the Democrats as they do each other. They might start winning elections again. Memo to Liz Cheney.

This crap about how badly the Republican have been hurt by the shutdown is just...well, crap - it doesn’t account for the fact that many of those complaining about the ‘pubs are themselves ‘pubs - Tea Partiers who don’t like Rinos, and Rinos who can’t stand Tea Partiers - come the election, there may be some dropoff on both sides but a lot of those unhappy that things aren’t closer to optimum will still go vote for the GOP ticket - any given Republican is better than any ‘rat any old day......

...alas the GOP hires some insider instead of really finding retail talent

It was glaring to me that Karl Rove's opposition to the Tea Parties is all about the money. Consultants at high dollar who get marginal results. An all out branding campaign should have happen years ago.

You are exactly right. Gallup polls on the role of government show clear super majorities in favor of smaller limited constitutional government. The only problem the GOP has is that it is dependent on big donors many of which don’t see small limited constitutional government as in their best interests. We have seen many of these types rear their ugly heads in places like the US chamberpot of commerce. We have two distinct enemies that we are fighting. A big money political class and a leftist insurgency.

Maelstorm, while it would be a great thing to see the dhimmicrap majority take a serious slap in 2014, we have to also ask whether a pubbie majority in the House and the Senate would be willing (forget ‘able’) to repeal Zerocare.

For many conservatives, the pubbies have morphed into dhimmicrap-lite and it is highly unlikely that such repeal would be in the cards. Even if repealed at the Congressional level, surely Zero would veto.

That leaves defunding as the mechanism to defang this garbage legislation. And, if it’s allowed to take root, at all, then the possibilities of repeal drop dramatically. As a practical exercise, when was the last time such an impactful intrusion into the lives of the American people was repealed?

Time to elect TRUE conservatives; people who will stand on principles of smaller government, constitutional government, controlled spending, balanced budgets, within the constraints of the enumerated powers.

Obamacare is going to kill Democrats in 2014 provided the GOP doesn't do anything stupid.

Do you have any faith in that?

It ain’t so much that the democrats are telling us such obvious lies.

It’s that they don’t respect us enough to bother telling GOOD lies.

If 0care is such an issue that it adds to the GOP majority in the House and creates a GOP majority in the Senate, a significant remainder of the Dems in both houses may be willing to join with the GOP in overriding the veto of a seriously damaged lame duck POTUS to repeal 0care.

Not saying that will happen. But the odds are better than nil.

Those are two distinct problems. Neither have to be dealt with all at once. If they win and don’t repeal the GOP will suffer a huge cost.

I agree. The overreach of the Alien Regime has offered the GOP a historic opportunity, if they have the desire to accept it. The outcomes of primaries will be more important than ever, as incumbent sellouts are challenged by conservative rivals. Given the potential to exploit anti-Obamacare rage against the democrats, the chance to elect true conservatives is unmatched in recent years. Another 2010 would seal the majority in the House and elect a majority in the Senate.

Let us see what the party does in the coming year. Their conduct of the coming campaign will define who they are.

In Democratic districts, net incumbent approval has plummeted by 11 points, from +8 approval to +3 disapproval.

i would think a negative sign in front of the ‘3’. Otherwise the difference is 5.

John Boehner: The Speaker now has a worse net rating in these
Republican districts than Nancy Pelosi. Since July, we find an
11-point rise in negative ratings for John Boehner in the Republican
battleground—now up to 55 percent negative. His net negative rating
is –30 — 8 points higher than for Pelosi in the 50 Republican seats.
Whoa...hoping the pubbies, won't (really) scewed ...
things up..but, We know they're recent history

The only thing most people will remember about the shutdown is WW2 vets being locked out.
And the MSM stopped talking about it because it hurt the RATs in a big way.
