SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- We're learning more in the ongoing investigation of a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy who shot and killed a 13-year old who was carrying a replica assault rifle.
The collection of candles and balloons honoring Andy Lopez continues to grow and people continue to show up to pay their respects. Maria Marquez and Juana Rojas have attended the memorial every day since the shooting because they want to tell the boy's parents what they saw when he was killed.
...
She says they were right behind the patrol car at a stop sign. Rojas saw the deputies turn on their police lights, then drive over to where the teenager was standing in an open lot.
Rojas and Marquez say they heard the deputies yell in English "drop the gun."
"Abrieron la puerta de cada lado y sacaron la pistola y tas, tas," Rojas said.
She says almost immediately, both deputies then opened their doors and shots were fired.
Rojas and Marquez say deputies only yelled once before opening fire.
...
She says they fired immediately and didn't give him a chance to do anything.

I wasn't aware that speaking Spanish was a capital offense. But having said that, how do you know the kid didn't speak English himself?
I have lived here in Santa Rosa for over 8 years and I have never seen roving gangs.
Yes, there are many Mexicans who live here, most keep to themselves.
I know we also have a lot of meth heads, but who doesn’t?
Gangs...maybe. But the picture you painted in your post....no way.
Oh, another thing....it is not a shithole.
Besides the liberals and the taxes, I love it here. Sonoma County is beautiful.
It is still a nice area.
LOL having fun are we??
“Cops now like to shoot first and then justify it later.”
Yup, just following procedure. It’s all good.
No they won’t. 80% of Americans are pansies hooked on the cell phones and network tv.
Por que?
More fun than the dead kid.
Hummph!! In the old days, the neighborhood “kids” would have plastic, wooden, or broom sticks and we fought “the bad guys”.......
I guess you can’t play “guns” anymore?**
**(that’s cowboy and Indians, cops and robbers..etc)
Ido everything I can not to attract their attention for that reason.
IMO, their priority is protecting and serving the government only-the one I now fear and loathe.

That's a far cry from him pointing the barrel of the gun at him. He believed that he was about to ... The dashcam video must be devastating and show that at no time was the barrel pointing at the officers.
Since I first heard of this, I've wanted to see and hear the dashcam. If the cops conveniently "lost" it, they should be jailed for the rest of their lives.
There first thing that popped into my head was, "What does the dashcam show". It's been almost a week and I don't think we know even whether one exists.
I hadnt been there in a while and I had a Red Corvette Convertible at the time.
Im at a stop light and a Blue sedan with four Latinos pulls up next to me and starts flashing gang signs, shouting gang slogans and threats and the usual gang related BS, including flashing a very large knife.

I live in Santa Rosa, about a mile from where this happened, in a semi-rural area. It is not a “high class” area but I have never felt even a bit threatened. I’ve lived here for 12 years now and never, ever had anything like what you describe happen to me.
I will postulate that red Corvettes attract trouble: Many years ago when Mr. Fauxvert and I were still dating, he had a red Corvette ... and that car was just not long for this world. Cops went out of their way to give him tickets, and it was stolen a total of three times. Finally, the third time, the creeps burned it. He bought a gray Toyota to follow that ... and no one has ever touched it! ;)
“The second fatal wound was caused by a bullet entering the right hip.”
They sure get off on those gut shots, don’t they? F*king sadists....
