Harry Reid: 'Everybody ... Willing to Pay More' Taxes
The Weekly Standard ^ | Oct 24, 2013 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 10/24/2013 3:00:33 PM PDT by mdittmar

Senate majority leader Harry Reid says that "Everybody" is "willing to pay more" taxes. He said so in an interview with a Nevada Public Radio host.

“The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress,” Reid told the radio host, according to Roll Call. “Everybody else, including the rich people, are willing to pay more. They want to pay more.”

Reid rebuked the Nevada Public Radio host when he was asked what Republicans would have to concede to get Medicare and Social Security cuts on the table.

“You keep talking about Medicare and Social Security. Get something else in your brain. Stop talking about that. That is not going to happen this time. There is not going to be a grand bargain,” Reid said. “What we need to do is have Murray and her counterpart in the House, Ryan, work together to come up with something to get out of this senseless sequestration and start the budgeting process so that we can do normal appropriation bills.”

Reid said Republicans would have to agree to more tax revenue to get anywhere near a bigger deal.

“They have their mind set on doing nothing, nothing more on revenue, and until they get off that kick, there’s not going to be a grand bargain on — there’s not going to be a small bargain,” Reid said. “We’re just going to have to do something to work our way through sequestration.”

Why, just the other day I wrote to my congress critters, begging them to raise my taxes.

I’m having another person type this for me. Seems someone has tied my shirt sleeves behind my back. Wait...this isn’t my shirt!?

In actuality it should read “....would have to agree to more government control...”

Folks,

We are 20 trillion in the hole, taxes or not.

Given what the Mrs. and I just had to pay, I’ve started looking for places to move to. These people are out of their minds if they think everyone is just going to take it because they say so.

“Everybody? He did not ask me.
Or any conservative. I guess we don’t count.”

***

Wait till liberals have to pay more. They think they won’t have to pony up higher taxes because they aren’t “rich.” But sooner or later the tax bill will come due for them too. Then watch the excrement hit the fan.

We're not only probably never going to hear about Congress's constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers from Harry Reid, but I don't foresee Reid cluing anybody into Justice John Marshall's clarification about Congress's limited power to lay taxes.

Given the remote possibility that some freepers aren't aware of this, Justice Marshall had officially clarified that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues, essentially any issue which Congress cannot justify under its Section 8-limited powers.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

So not only have the states never delegated to the federal government, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate public healthcare, for example, but based on Justice Marshall's words, Congress cannot lay taxes in the name of public healthcare.

That ain’t what he said and it ain’t what he meant. Dingy Harry doesn’t like it that people have money to spend the way they want to instead of the way he wants to. He needs to serve one more term, preferably 25 to life. In a supermax.

"Everybody" in North Korea is "willing to pay more" taxes. As for the American taxpayer, Sen. Reid can go fornicate himself.

Reid is the slimiest rotten piece of $hit in the whole government. As much as I despise the Kenyan, I detest Reid even more.

Reid admitted he’s not just targeting the wealthy for tax increases!

My parents just paid a huge chunk of their income to Obama. That money could have gone into the private sector.
