Bruce Bartlett, who served as domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan and a Treasury official for President George H.W. Bush, told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, host of “All in with Chris Hayes,” on Friday that the Republican Party has been “hijacked by crazy people, stupid people.” …

Bartlett, who is currently a columnist and blogger for the Fiscal Times, said he wondered why former Treasury secretaries who worked for Republican administrations did not speak out publicly during the budget impasse to tell the GOP that not raising the debt ceiling would be a “bad idea.” …

Bartlett said it was “perfectly understandable” that some Republican members of Congress might not want to go against the rest of the party and vote for a clean continuing resolution at first, because of the “crazy Tea Party people” and the fear that they would be challenged in the primaries by Republican candidates backed by people with “unlimited” resources. …

"GOP Has Been ‘Hijacked by Crazy …Stupid People’ (Bruce Bartlett)"

But I thought you LIKED John McCain, Lindsey Graham, John Boehner, Peter King and Mitch McConnel, Brucie.
Why do you attack them now?

Yes, Bruce. They’re called campaign consultants.

Dude, seriously, don’t tell me Steve Schmidt looks sane.

Crazy stupid people; like Ronald Reagan was crazy and stupid.
There is a virus in Washington DC that affects 99% of people who work there over 6 months. It causes complete loss of values, intellect and core values.

We should move the captitol to the windswept plains of North Dakota. All politicians would have to sleep in drafty dorm like buildings while Congress is in session. Any lobbyist who gets with 100 miles would be shot.

They all think by bringing up the name “Reagan”, it gives them a pass to say what’s right for America. Hell, even zerObama does it.

$17 trillion national debt and $125 trillion in unfunded liabilites. Now who’s the crazy ones?

The Tea Party is trying to stop this insanity.

>> Republican Party has been “hijacked by crazy people, stupid people.”

I guess he thinks the parties (Dem in cahoots with the GOPs) that gave us 17 trillion in debt are the smart people.

Just because he worked “for Reagan” doesn’t mean anything, really. Elizabeth Dole worked for Reagan, too...

Reagan promoted a young Eric Holder. I doubt he would approve of him today.

Democrats slur Republicans, the tea party and conservatives with outrageous rhetoric and there is ALWAYS some Repub willing to openly agree with those slurs. It gives those comments alot more credibility comming from a Repub (in this case a REAGAN Admim official) than some commie lib MSNBC type. Why cant these a-hole Repubs just keep their f’in mouths shut!?

* the Republican Party has been “hijacked by crazy people, stupid people.” *

That's true if you are talking about all the RINO’s and wannabe Democrats and old fogey career GOP.

NOT if you are taking about Cruz, Rand Paul or any of the TEA Party Republicans.

Three TEA Party Republicans are worth more than all the RINO’s and Dems combined!

Actually, I cannot imagine any Republican who is intelligent, educated and informed supporting the current direction the Republicans are taking the Republican Party and the Country.

Something is very wrong with their world view

It may have something to do with the fact that most Republican Senators have lived and worked in DC for 30 + years and represent themselves and the Washington DC establishment and not their people back home .

it may also be that they are so old they make the ossified Brezhnev Politburo that stagnated the USSR into oblivion look like a dynamic young entrepreneur club

If their education lacks the moral/religious dimension (or features a distorted version of such), it’s not that hard to see how they can embrace the RINO path.
