President Obama became the latest, and most high-profile, figure to weigh in against the Washington Redskins’ name, saying he would consider changing it because it offends many Native Americans.
“If I were the owner of the team and I knew that there was a name of my team — even if it had a storied history — that was offending a sizeable group of people, I’d think about changing it,” Obama said in an interview with the Associated Press published Saturday.
It was the first time Obama, a big sports fan who roots for teams from his native Chicago, had been asked his opinion publicly on the controversy surrounding the name of Washington’s professional football franchise.
Team owner Daniel Snyder has said he will not change the name of the team, which has been called the Redskins since George Preston Marshall owned the franchise in Boston in 1933. Marshall moved the team to Washington in 1937, and it has since become one of the National Football League’s most profitable franchises.

The Redskins are offensive ... and defensive ... and not all that good at either. But that's beside the point. Team names should reflect the dominant ethnic group in the team's home market. Therefore this un-PC owner should change their name to the Washington Ibows, which happens to be the name of a Nigerian tribe from which many slaves were taken.
Fittingly, it could also be an acronym. The Washington Illegitimate Bastards On Welfare .

G. Anne Richardson, chief of Virginia’s Rappahannock Tribe, had to stifle a laugh when asked her feelings on the Redskins’ nickname.
“I don’t have an issue with it,” she said. “There are so many more issues that are important for the tribe than to waste time on what a team is called. We’re worried about real things, and I don’t consider that a real thing.
“We’re more worried about our kids being educated, our people housed, elder care and the survival of our culture. We’ve been in that survival mode for 400 years. We’re not worried about how some ball team is named.”
I find this clown to truly perplexing. Since he has taken office I would estimate he has engaged in 396,423 utterances, acts, and decisions. How is it he could be wrong 396,423 times? Even by some statistical accident, he should have gotten at least ONE thing right, but no, Obamao is wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME ABOUT EVERY SINGLE THING!

If they change the name, I think “Washington Politically-Correct Pussies” is fitting.
If the team was 90% Indian I’d say the name “Redskins” fits. As it is, there’s another name that would actually be correct.
