“A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress”
This is the first I recall reading that there were any Democrats there - the various stories I’ve read about and heard/seen on FNC - all congresscritters were Pubbies.
Apologies for being a bit dense and confused. They were FOR closing them, before they were FOR opening, before they were FOR wiring them shut?? I thought I had been following this story, but have obviously missed somthing.
On about Oct 2nd,the WA Post reported:
National Park Service to keep WW II Memorial open to veterans
“At the closed-off National World War II Memorial, two days of assaults by veterans prompted the National Park Service to announce that they had the legal right to be there and would not be barred in the future.”
As reported by 2ndDivisionVet on the thread below

If that's true, I welcome the news! The Republicans should have invited willing Democrats to go with them from the very first.
This cannot be spun as a GOP vs. Obama issue. Because it's really a WW II vets vs. Obama issue.
Earlier this week, the Washington Post reported that the WW II Memorial would be open to veterans. Call them and tell them their news should be updated.
