On Sean Hannity’s radio show on Thursday, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan picked up where he left off earlier in the week by criticizing President Barack Obama’s tactics in dealing with the federal government shutdown.
According to the former Nixon and Reagan administration staffer, the president’s acts show that he is motivated by winning a political fight, even if it means resorting to very unpopular means to get at his opposition.
“I think even many of the president’s supporters, at least some of them, will candidly admit he’s among the most partisan presidents we’ve ever had,” Buchanan said. “And the relationship between the Republican House and the Republicans in the Senate and the White House, and the fact he didn’t meet with [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell for 18 months, I think that president is becoming quite frankly becoming increasingly a savage partisan. What he is doing in this debate and this argument, however, I think is genuinely sadistic.”
“To go out there yesterday and suggest, you know maybe we’re going to default and rattle the markets where they plunge today, to have his aides call over there at the Park Service and tell them not to let the veterans visit the World War II Memorial when they’re on honor flight — their last chance in this life to meet and honor the guys with whom they served and to visit the memorial, which belongs to them — what kind of mind would do that?” Buchanan continued.
He added that this president’s comments diminish his office to a point he comes off as a losing partisan.
“[Y]ou hear these very solicitous comments, ‘Well, you know we got a strong economy,’” Buchanan said. “Make sure you know, you don’t rattle the market or panic the markets. He looked like he is trying deliberately to do it. And now we see he’s out there threatening the Social Security checks of the old folks. I mean, this sounds like some rabid partisan in a wholly partisan congressional district in the last 48 hours before a losing campaign.”
Buchanan, the author of “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?“ said it looked to him that congressional Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, were playing into Republicans’ hands. His suggested course of action was to counter hardship stories in the media by passing legislation that would fund those parts of the government and put the onus on Reid, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and their fellow Democratic colleagues.
Sadistic is the word House/Senate Republicans should use everytime they talk to the media about Obama’s shutdown.
And that is the very reason Democrats love Obama, they are no different, they hate anyone that is moral.
I wish I could say it is only an issue with 0bama, but it is not. He is listening to and being guided by a set of operatives that have long since gone over the hill and should be sitting quietly in their vineyards sipping wine and watching their grandkids grow up. As bad as I think 0bama is as President, he is a nincompoop as a community organizer too for he has fallen in line with partisan progressives who are too old to realize the 'young guards' of the republic have engaged the battle.
I sit here this morning in full realization that the entire democrat party will truly lose the nation over a single piece of legislation. A piece of legislation that ruins a whole industry that has long been the envy of the world. Was it perfect? No, but it was a hell of a lot better than where we're going today.
So, if the democrats are willing to lose the nation are we, the free, willing and ready to restore it? Are we organized enough to help our fellow citizens get through this? We've been preparing for this now for 5 years. Are we ready?
Do I think there will be grand bargain this time? No. And even if there is...Dec. 15th is only weeks away. Let the actions of this administration reveal to Americans just how bad off our country really is legislatively, economically, and in regards to leadership.
And o think we’ve got another 3 yrs plus to go with this guy in the WH.

Pat is beautifully artistic and it is an apt description.
It also harks back to those reports that White House staffers cringed at the way Obama would personally get involved—and take pleasure in—identifying individual drone targets, ordering their slaying, and then enjoying their death.
We won’t make those 3 years, we’re not supposed too.

I've never visited the World War II memorial but I know it's outside. So I can easily see why it should be open during the shut down - it'd be like shutting down the Mall or the Vietnam Memorial. So my next question would be that if there really isn't any need for Park Service employees during the shutdown then why do they need them there at any other time?

This is the key..People will organize when they begin to suffer. I have read that only about 10% have enough foresight to begin preparation when the storm clouds rise. The others wait until after the hurricane hits to do anything. For example, I often feel frustrated at church because, while the teaching and the sermons are good and interesting, they too often do not connect our lives today with what happened back there in history. We need to review the consequences of everything coming down on us in America. Most of the time, throughout history, people have lived under dictatorships and we know how those turn out. There is nothing new under the sun.
Perhaps to guard against vandalism which sometimes, albeit rarely, occurs against statues and monuments. Although it would be much cheaper to just repair the monuments.
Last night I took my copies of a few historical documents and placed them on my prayer table with my Bible opened to Joshua 24.
The timing on this is seemingly right, the fall of America if the end-times are to start. WE cannot be a super power in the world. I believe 0bama won't bend at all, it will be 0bama's hubris that sends the world into the first 3.5 years of the tribulation. 0bama has 3 years or so left in office, Syria teeters, Russia & Iran prepare to surround Israel....
I believe we'll turn back to God and America is used as part of the Lord's army in the last half of the tribulation, but for now we need to be made small and half our nation needs to return to God. The DNC fiasco about putting God back in the platform reminded me more of the scene from Joshua than of Peter's denial.
