Good going Republicans ,I’m glad Republicans didn’t back down.

What’s essential government services? only military and border control . keep all that other communist trash government shut down

I’m so happy the stupid gov is shut down!

I’m glad the government is shut down. none of the government is needed except for the military and border control and that is it , get rid of the IRS, EPA, FEC, FCC, gov schools, NASA( the global warming hoax pushers), TSA, NSA, PBS, national parks, NPR etc , get rid of all that government trash

What will we do without the IRS oppressing us conservatives and Republicans?

What will we do without the NSA spying on us or the TSA groping us? without the EPA shutting down coal power plants because of a hoax called global warming?

without the government protecting us from the fake global warming hoax? what will the polar bears do now?

I’ll die without PBS lol no I won’t

the democrats’ God, government is shut down. the media are democrats so they are on suicide watch

Government Shutdown Notice

Due to the Federal Government shutdown, NOAA.gov and most associated web sites are unavailable. However, because the information this site provides is necessary to protect life and property, it will be updated and maintained during the Federal Government shutdown.

RE :”Good deal! Finally, a way to prevent the government from spending our hard-earned tax dollars on things that the government admits are nonessential. The larger question is why the government spends money on these programs and activities to begin with.”

That saves money?

After the 1995 to 1996 shutdowns all those FED government employees got back pay, even the ones who were shutdown and got off those weeks.
Afterward the GOP congress was too cowardly to not do it in an election yaers, plus they took a beating over it.

It cost even more to shutdown

That shutdown is considered the AM talk radio gold standard, a huge victory for Newt and conservatives as told in later renditions.

One of my relatives lives alone. She had been in the habit of running a household, but her family has all grown and gone for some time. She recently had her main water drain get clogged. While she was waiting for estimates and repairs, she started doing dishes and small clothing in the bathtub, dumping gray water in the garden and making one trip a month to the laundromat for large stuff. She liked it so much, she kept on after the repairs and wondered why she hadn’t started doing this years ago. Her bills went down.

Just a small illustration of a larger problem. Government keeps getting bigger, but never gets smaller even when needs go down, such as the Department of Education or the Equal Employment Opportunity empire, or when costs go up, such as our enormous debt. But real savings can be had if government returns to its original purposes instead of being a cash cow for power-seeking, greedy elitists.

For those who remember. We should take the same approach as Ronald Reagan did when the air traffic controllers went on strike. We just figured out all the parts of the government we don't need to fund when we pass a new budget (if we ever pass another one) or continuing resolution.
