SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Sheriff’s Deputies believe two teenagers went on a crime spree that began after they allegedly assaulted one of the suspect’s mothers with the grip of a sword.

Early Tuesday morning, Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 13300 block of East Mission on an assault call.  Deputies arrived to find an adult female victim bloody on her bed with two knives next to her, according to investigators. There was also a sword on her bed that had the handle grip. The victim said the sword was not damaged the night prior and figured the sword was used to assault her.  Deputies said they did not find forced entry into the residence and believed the victim's 13-year-old son and his 14-year-old friend were the suspects.

Deputies then checked the 14-year-old suspect’s residence near 11700 E. Mission and contacted the boy’s father.  Investigators said the dad noticed his 2005 Dodge Durango was missing along with the keys that hung inside the garage.

While at the residence, deputies were advised of a hit and run collision at 7800 E. Alki.  Deputies responded and found the 2005 Durango running.  The vehicle struck the side of a mobile home and the occupants in the vehicle fled the scene, according to deputies.

After the alleged hit and run, deputies received word there was a burglary near the 8900 block of E. Boone where two males were seen breaking into the house.  Deputies responded and said they found forced entry into the house as well as severe damage to the inside of the residence.  While deputies were inside, a Washington State Patrol Trooper saw two males running from the area of the house.   Investigators said the 13 and 14-year-old males were found hiding nearby.  The teenagers were taken into custody.

"I've seen cops here a few times,” said neighbor Joey Cordray. “I came over to see what's going on and the cops just say, ‘oh they're having problems with their son.’”

Investigators said the 13-year-old admitted he told his 14-year-old friend to try to kill his mother because he had been taking "blue pills.”  The 14-year-old suspect also admitted to attempting to kill his friend's mother and that they were going to leave town afterwards, according to detectives.  The 13-year-old suspect also reportedly told investigators the friend tried to talk him into eating his mother, specifically her liver.  Investigators said the 13-year-old blamed his thought process on his drug usage and said he would never do anything like that sober.

Both teenage males were booked into Juvenile Detention for 2nd Degree Assault, Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Permission, Residential Burglary, 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief, and Hit and Run.

meanwhile the sword handle had a grip that is assumed to have some part in this disjointed tale.

Yes, this piece looks like a rough draft that the author never bothered to review. Perhaps she was taking some blue pills, as well.

Was this story written by a twelve-year-old?! I’ve seen some bad writing, but this is truly memorable.

Hmm... Second sword ping... Same story as:

Also need a Washington ping, which would be busier than "swords". Still, there is plenty of combinations of "sword" in the news out there. What federal agency controls edged utensils out there? Have there been any health studies done on why people are drawn to swords as a "cry for help"?

This could be a better gig than the regular DHS. Same battle rattle, but add a high-quality Chinese wakizashi, ten minutes of training, and remind them to decapitate the family dog, rather than shoot it.

Are you sure they haven't found some sort of environmental component to all this stuff?
