This is the mean, and the mean income in this country is $51,000. That's why I've always said, "If you earn $50,000 or more, you're in the upper 10%," but that's getting worse. It ought to be trending in the opposite direction.
No, if $51,000 is the median income (which I believe is correct, or at least close), then if you earn more than $51,000, you are in the upper 50%.
