I did it just last week. Three times. I showed a driver’s license entering a major United States Army post and was told to move on and have a nice day.

Doesn’t mean it’s SOP, but it does happen.

(BEIRUT) — Al Qaeda failed to make good on threats to strike U.S. diplomatic outposts on this week’s 9/11 anniversary, but in a new audio tape, the leader of the besieged terror network renewed his plea to followers to strike at American interests — and to aim lower, if necessary, with individual acts of violence.

...
In the new Arabic-language tape, released Sept. 12 Zawahiri chortled over the “blessed” 2001 strikes that left thousands of Americans dead, as well as April’s Boston Marathon bombings that killed just three Americans, which he claimed was proof of a Muslim “uprising.”

“Keeping America in tension and anticipation only costs a few disparate attacks here and there,” Zawahiri explained during his 72-minute recording. “These disparate strikes can be done by one brother or a few of the brothers.”

“Both shooters are black. This episode is over. We will hear very little more about the “isolated incident.”

Except for more calls for gun control. Can’t let a good crisis go to waste.

Thailand?!

http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/09/16/5167160/fort-worth-man-accused-in-washington.html

FORT WORTH — The man suspected of killing 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard, identified as Aaron Alexis of Fort Worth, left the Navy in 2011.

Alexis, 34, was found dead at the site of the Monday morning shooting in Washington, D.C.. Police say they do not have a motive for the shootings.

Nutpisit Suthamtewakul, owner of Happy Bowl Thai in White Settlement, said Alexis was “my best friend.”

“He lived with me three years,” Suthamtewakul said Monday afternoon. “I don’t think he’d do this. He has a gun, but I don’t think he’s that stupid. He didn’t seem aggressive to me.”

Upon learning of his death, Suthamtewakul said, “ ‘Wait, he’s dead? I call him, but he doesn’t answer phone.”

Alexis had been in the Navy from 2007 to 2011 and was most recently stationed at Naval Air Station Fort Worth, according to Lt. Cmdr. Sarah Blansett, a Navy spokeswoman in McLean, Va.

He worked as an aviation electrician’s mate, 3rd class, in the Navy Reserve’s Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 46, according to the Navy.

Friends said he left the Navy because he didn’t like to get up early and had complained about getting underpaid.

Alexis also worked at times as a waiter and deliveryman at Happy Bowl, customers said.

Alexis had recently visited Thailand and had been to Japan with a computer defense contractor, where he worked in information technology, said Sandy Guerra-Cline, a customer at Happy Bowl and copy editor at the Star-Telegram.

“He is not a guy that talked about guns or talked about anything violent,” Guerra-Cline said. “As a matter of fact, my best memories of him were of him sitting at one of the tables at Happy Bowl trying to teach himself Thai.”

(snip)
A friend said Alexis loved Buddhism.

“He loved to go to temple, go to meditate in Thai and English,” the friend said. “He could do both of them.”

Alexis had previously lived in Flushing, N.Y., from 2000 to 2002. It is unclear where he lived from 2002 until he moved to Fort Worth.

“Has a photo of the wee lad at age 14 surfaced yet?”

Haha, good one! I wonder if the nation will be treated to his Mommie carrying on endlessly about what an angel he was.

The face hair would, in Thailand, open the possibility he was Muslim or that he was into current pop culture. The name is not Malay or Jin Haw both of which indicate possible Muslim. If he says he’s Buddhist I’d certainly believe him.

Agreed. Everyone aware of Ft. Meade, where the trial just was for our homosexual traitor Manning?

I have driven onto that base many times, albeit it’s been many years. Once to meet a guy for a date from the firehouse ther, a couple times to check out the older graveyards on site, and another for court for speed violation nearby. Also had big picnic on base set up by my employer for young employees’ group. None of this involved much of any checks.

As for the Navy Yard, they are not a shipyard, anymore. Mostly just bureaucracy there. Even a nice small museum for the public that I still haven’t gone to yet. In many ways, NY would have less defense than Ft. Meade.

Shooter Aaron Alexis received a general discharge in 2011 for a series of misconduct issues, a Navy official tells ABC News. This official does not know if the civilian gun discharge case was one of those misconduct issues, but does not think so.

This official says there’s an investigation underway of Alexis’ background so he does not have any information right now to confirm that Alexis was working as a contractor at the Washington Navy Yard.

“That’s why he went on a shooting rampage 3 years later?”

No, when Fox reported he was cleaning his gun and it went off and a bullet went into the ceiling, someone they had on made it sound like he had killed everyone in the apartment complex. If you are anywhere a gun is, you are a killer according to liberals.

As in, “Oh, my God, she has a PINK 22 rifle and other weapons and ammo and a pellet gun she may use on a squirrel who is trying to eat her plants - lock her up!”

I am so sick of liberals and their sissy fears of a gun. And, I wish Piers Morgan would go home, I’m really sick of his sissy ways.

“where are family members who swear that.....
1) “he is such a good boy.”
2) “Honor Student” at MLK High School, because he went to school twice a week
3) he went to church and sang in the choir once, and starting a promising rap career. But he got with the wrong crowd.
4) But this incident came from no where.
5) he was trying to turn his life around when it happened.
6) you’re racist if you dare question anything about this kid’s past or his behavior.
7) he was a good baby daddy to his 5 chillin.
8) all those previous 18 arrests was all by racist cops!
9) he didnt doo nufin.”

Way too funny and all too often, TRUE.
