At least 100,000 people have been killed in the civil war so far including 6,000 children, many of them Christians.
The Christians are targeted because most support the Assad regime, which traditionally protected them from Islamists, and also because of their faith.
Jerry Dykstra of Open Doors USA says the civil war has devastated the Christian and non-Christian population in Syria.
They've been driven out of their homes, a total of five million inside Syria and two million are in refugee camps along the borders, say Dykstra. Now that's not just Christians. Many of them have fled to places like Turkey and Lebanon and Jordan.
Open Doors USA has been on the ground working through churches to provide essential survival items including food and medical supplies, assisting 8,000 families so far. Open Doors has also been providing trauma counseling, especially for children.

This is good, but I'd really like to see some CRUSADERS go over there and pay the jihadists a little "visit".
Unfortunately, our president is sending our crusaders to fight on the side of the jihadists.
Isn’t this the organization founded by Richard Wurmbrand, who wrote, “Tortured for Christ”?
Oops, should have looked it up. He started Voice of the Martyrs.
I have a friend who just got back from Jordan visiting family in Amman...she said thousands of refugees in camps, both Christians and non-Christians.
I’m remembering when the Arab population fled from Israel into Jordan because their leaders told them they would drive the Jews to the sea so that they could come back and take their land. I know this isn’t exactly the same predicament, but Jordan is not without Muslim extremists and terrorists in the country, and Christians are discriminated against. It is amazing that Open Doors USA can get some relief to the Christians who have fled there.
:) Like who?
Open Doors USA was founded by Brother Andrew (from Holland)
