As Congress debates whether to authorize a strike on Syria in response to Bashar Assad´s use of chemical weapons, much has been said and written about America´s special role in the world. Simply put, the blessings of prosperity obligate the U.S. to enforce the peace it seeks. There is no nobler duty. If the U.S. is unwilling to use its strength to respond to Assad´s crimes, then the defenseless will continue to be slaughtered in Syria, and America risks having similar atrocities visited upon its citizens. To allow the use of weapons of mass destruction to go unanswered would be an

There is a theory that the Syria strikes are intended to end sequestration.
Buck wants higher taxes for higher military spending so that military contractors can send more bucks for Buck’s re-election.
That’s a smoke. The real reason is they don’t want the truth of the deaths of Chris Stevens and the others to get out; nor the other scandals.
The blessings of prosperity do not obligate us to anything.
Especially not helping the anti-Christ Islamists.
as we get ready for bed, the democrats are furiously coming up with talking points for the morning shows that will convince people the idea of Syria giving up their weapons to Russian control was all Obama’s grand plan and he alone walked us back from the precipice of total global thermonuclear war. All hail Obama.
What prosperity??? The kind where no one under 30 can find a non-fast food job because they all require years of experience?
Look Americans, of both parties, need to bring back American jobs they sent to China, especially those with any military connection.
We cannot de-industrialize America.
Bring back American manufacturing. Now.
You mean the oil pipe line built by Iran and Syria. That neither Israel or Saudi Arabia are a part of, oh my our government handlers can’t have that now can they.
It supplies Europe with oil.
Yes it really is all about money, and Putin is punking the game with China’s backing!
At this point I don't care. The incompetent boobs running our country almost blundered their way into WWIII, and Putin tossed them a lifeline to back out of it. Go ahead and take credit.
I'll praise the LORD for not bringing Judgment down on our heads (yet). Another day and another chance for repentance. If not, then Psalm 9:17 for us - a Nation that was once founded by Christians....
Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
I’d like to ask these clowns what they’re response will be if it’s proven by UN inspectors that it was the rebels who used the gas. Will they say “They must be punished!”
I read that many people in their 30s don’t believe they’ll ever own their own home. The hope of the American dream is gone. Yet most that age still love obama. He’s destroying this country on purpose yet most people don’t believe it.
Am I the only person that finds the authors stance of money for a yes vote repugnant, especially when the lives of US military personnel are on the line? I don't care if he wants more for military spending in light of commitments, or not; that's fricking disgusting. Some people need their a$$es beat
Filthy lucre. Blood money.
No one seems to really care about civilians and children gassed (by the Brotherhood, of course), about Christians being slaughtered, about making the world a better place. They care about their ego and pet projects (in Obama’s case a Sunni Caliphate), about military contractor spending to pay for that new swimming pool, about “their” healthcare and “their” pension. Those altruistic sentiments being lobbed around by one and all, left and right, are a mere smokescreen for unenlightened self interest. We even see it here on FR.
Count me in that group. I’m in my mid-20s and a steady job, let alone homeownership, seems far, far away.
