Town hall meeting to defund Obamacare draws large crowd in Tampa

Some 500 people fired up to kill the health care overhaul turned out for a town hall meeting Wednesday night to bemoan the law — and jeer and groan at any mention of Republicans skittish about refusing to fund it.

“They’re afraid to have a showdown with someone who’s tearing up our country,” said Jim DeMint, the former South Carolina senator who now leads the conservative Heritage Foundation. “This is the time. This might be the last off-ramp for us to stop Obamacare before it gets so enmeshed in our culture that it’s impossible to change.”

The packed crowd at the town hall event, however, seemed at least as angry with Republicans wary about trying to defund the health care law as about the law itself. No elected Republicans from the Tampa Bay area attended.

Republicans need a counter-proposal.

Simply opposing Obamacare is inadequate.

There are easily as many positively impacted by increased coverage, as there are negatively impacted by Obamacare.

The GOP must have a better alternative.

Open question for the GOP:

What do you propose, that is better?

The federal government has no constitutional mandate to provide any kind of health coverage. The correct answer is to scrap it all and put the federal government back in the constitutional box.

There are countless proposals, bills and outlines available to see. The problem with making one official proposal is it gives Obama a hammer to hit back. Right now, he’s holding the bag. We have to keep focused on what is failing with Obamacare...job cuts, hour cuts, raising prices, business expenses skyrocketing, and delays. The next presidential candidates are the ones that need to present an alternative. Possibly a set of ideas without specific proposal during the 2014 cycle...a set of principles or ideas to guide replacement. The fact is, medical insurance and medical care was significantly better before Obamacare, so repeal alone improves the system.

But first they need to find a spine. They are like a bunch of jellyfish floating with the political current with the exception that that they lack the defensive stinging capability that jellyfish have. lol

We need real leaders who will take stands, accept responsibility, and fight like hell for conservative principles. It seems unlikely that the Republican Party will every be able to rise to that level.

Obamacare is not about healthcare. It is about controlling people’s lives and overwhelming the system in a Cloward-Piven way.

It is raising the cost if healthcare, imposing a horrendous financial burden on the young, decreasing the availability of healthcare to Americans, destroying charitable hospitals, empowering tens of thousands if “navigators” by sharing with them confidential health and tax information about all Americans and placing decisionmaking about healthcare into the hands of the corrupt IRS, which is out to stifle conservatism any way that it can.

Anyone who demands that we keep it in place and require people to move into the individual mandate while the President illegally suspends laws regarding the employer mandate and limitations on the patient’s deductible is not a conservative or a constitutionalist.

Republicans need a counter-proposal.

Counter-proposal:

  1. Drop interstate insurance restrictions.
  2. Enact limitations on malpractice-suits.
  3. Drop the prohibition of getting more than one insurance.

You are quite correct; such leadership would be contrary to the Republican ideals which are outlined in the following brochure:
