Well I’m completely sure this is not intended as a supply point for the growing secret US war in MALI...

".....When completed, the new complex will provide approximately 150 embassy employees with a secure, state-of-the-art, environmentally-sustainable workplace."

Agenda 21 language here. Sounds to me as though our budget is being overseen by the U.N., which would then lead me to believe our foreign policy as well.

Gee, what about that sequestration and the $$$ that should be going to our troops? Can we tour the White House now?

Is our enduring friendship with Benin anything like our enduring friendship with Egypt?

...or our enduring friendship with Yemen?

...or our enduring friendship with Tunisia?

$178 million for an embassy in Benin???

98% of Americans couldn't find this appendix of a country on a map.

Well that certainly nukes the democrats talking points regarding Republican budget cuts being the cause of lax security in Benghazi.

Absolute insanity!

We could air lift ten dumpsters in there to form a compound, to protect a used HUD flood trailer in the center of the action, and set up one employee to give $1 thousand to each Benin in line for a handout, and still save $100 million.

Our country is madness!

What’s in Benin that they can’t just rent a few rooms at the local Holiday Inn? Obama’s [fabulous] State Dept needs a $178 million bath house?

Dang, Benin? Heck, a small shack with an amateur radio with a couple of guys with shotguns guarding it will do. I mean what importance is Benin is to us?

“”Meanwhile, back in the real world, 99% of Americans wouldn’t notice if Benin disappeared tomorrow. Today, they couldn’t put it out on an unlabeled map.””

I have to admit I have never heard of the place. What in the dickens is so important about countries there? They’re all corrupt and murderous but we just love funneling money to their corrupt leaders for some reason. Are we all going insane or is this actually happening?

“”On the economic side, however, the picture is less bright - Benin is severely underdeveloped, and corruption is rife.””

NOW I understand - we will see to it that slaves will never again be sent to the new world from Africa. Favorite slogan of this administration - “see to it so it will never happen again.” Little do they know we’re trying to come up with a program that makes it impossible for THEM to ever happen again! I haven’t eaten dinner yet and my appetite is ruined. If this seems to be posted backassward, it’s because it is and reading the thread accomplished it.

“”Benin’s shore includes what used to be known as the Slave Coast, from where captives were shipped across the Atlantic. Elements of the culture and religion brought by slaves from the area are still present in the Americas, including voodoo.

Once banned in Benin, the religion is celebrated at the country’s annual Voodoo Day, which draws thousands of celebrants.””

what the articles did not write is that the embassy will have 2 muslim prayer rooms... so much for separation of church and state.
