Pittsburgh leaders consider topless rally request

Pittsburgh officials are mulling the legality of a rally planned by a group that hopes to celebrate Women's Equality Day by having women march topless alongside men in bikinis.

It is Pittsburgh, which is trying to be the San Francisco of the east. Last year the city council declared June 11, 2012 Sharon Needles day to honor drag queens.

Until very recently the typical Pittsburgh voter was old-school Democrat (Union member, liberal on economic issues, but typically Catholic and quite conservative on social ones)

That does appear to be changing. Bill Peduto, one of the most socially liberal guys on City Council, won the Mayoral primary over Jack Wagner, one of the old guard. This may be the tip of the iceberg in terms of social deconstruction here.
