I’ve been roughly following this. F’in sick. I wish the good people of their community would back them up.
I don’t want to see anyone in damnation. But this case really tweaks my vengeance, which is God’s and God’s alone.
So you don’t believe what God has told us through the Bible ?
Not saying this guy should go unpunished in this life, but I know I have things that God can repay me if it wasn't for his grace
They know, its pearls among swine at this point.
Homosexuality is not a new issue; it has been known in every society that has ever existed. When the Christian faith spread to Greece it encountered a society that accepted homosexuality. However, God said it was not acceptable to Him. The apostle Paul made it clear that it is not possible to be both a Christian and a practicing sinner. Paul stated very clearly in his letter to the Corinthians, that just as thieves needed to stop stealing, murders needed to stop murdering, prostitutes needed to stop selling their bodies, men and women needed to stop practicing adultery and fornication, so too did homosexuals need to stop engaging in the practice of homosexuality which is wrong in God's eyes.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor ldolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminant (passive partner..r.f.), nor homosexuals (active partner..r.f.), nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers shall inherit the kingdom of God, And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.(I Corinthians 6:9-11).
Now you will notice that Paul pointed out how some of those he was writing to were once practicing in all sorts of sinful behavior God was against, including homosexuality. Yet he also pointed out that they stopped and repented of their sins. Thus they were washed by the blood of Christ, sanctified, and justified (just as if they had not sinned is what justified means.)
So, you can see that there is NO sin that the blood of Christ can not forgive. For more evidence, even Jesus Himself told His disciples that;
"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. "And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come," Matthew 12:31-32
You can plainly see that God does, has, and will continue to do so in the future, forgive all sins, but Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
As for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, that is for another lesson.
Again you are mistaken Yosemitest. By saying God will not and never has forgiven the sin of homosexuality, you show that you do NOT read the word,
I erred in my first sentence. It was supposed read you do not read the word, which is obvious by you assertion that Gods will not forgive the sin of homosexuality
Thank you Vike for joining in to defend the gospel.
ALL sin (except the sin of rejecting the gospel) is forgiven in the gospel. ALL sin, and WITHOUT a probationary period required. This is because under the gospel, the person makes a valid decision to accept Jesus’ embrace to save his or her eternal life from damnation. (Usually at the time it happens, the decision is a no-brainer.) Now Jesus has taken responsibility for that person’s sins, and fruit to the glory of the Lord will begin to appear. The person will find his or her desires more and more attuned to the Lord as time progresses, and the Lord will cheerfully accept it if the person asks for the Lord to be glorified in a certain area of his or her life. Now lessons by the Teacher from Heaven will commence. Competent spiritual guidance by mature Christians under the control of the Holy Spirit at this juncture can make the process much quicker. God drilled me the hard way, making me discover each step in His school of hard knocks, but I now get the picture that He wanted me to stand on Him quite independent of other men. And in doing so He gave me a rock solid confidence in the power of the gospel. Praise belongs to Him for this. Praise does not belong to me. I was an oaf before Him. A big, big oaf. And if God can save a big oaf like me he can save anyone.
I cheerfully confess that yes, I am clumsy. Maybe I showed too little patience last night. But folks who single out any sin as unforgivable under the gospel (other than that of forever rejecting the gospel, which is witnessed supernaturally to men by the Holy Spirit as preachers share the word of life) are indeed sailing down God’s laugh track. Psalm 2 was written about them. We have an intensely gracious God here who is commanding all men everywhere to repent now, having previously overlooked the times of ignorance. Get with the salvation program or become the laughable fool... no third choice folks.
I wish God’s blessings (not His approvals, blessings — blessings are the way God undoes curses) to all. Yes even to Mr. Y.
bump to the top
Yup, the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the forever rejection of the gospel.
It sure sounds like our brother Y. is sadly rejecting the gospel if not badly misinformed. He’s seeing Christ as some kind of ornament on the law rather than the furnisher of the power that conforms a person to Christ, a Christ who was God’s proof-of-concept to obedience to the law. The law was put there to show what sinful goof-ups we were, and the penalties prescribed “in the times of ignorance” that showed how displeased God was at such sins were lifted by Christ’s sacrifice. Colossians 2:14.
This is orthogonal to the issue of how an earthly government ought to be conducted, but a good one is one that gives ample room to the gospel to work. With some flaws, American law attempted to be that way because American culture was heavily based in gospel belief. It did not fully embrace gospel power, however, and where it failed disgrace came. To get off the hot button at hand, think about the infamous Salem witch trials. The gospel thing would have been first to approach the alleged witches and beseech them to accept Christ, or if they had, then to invite more of Christ’s power into themselves to deal with the evil spirits they were seemingly showing a preoccupation with. That didn’t happen. The enemy was treated from the word go as flesh and blood, contrary to the holy advice of Ephesians 6:12. The result was further discrediting of the gospel.
Amen, and Amen............
I joyfully defend the Word, as He would want me to do.
We are told to always be prepared to give proof of our joy, evidence for our faith, and to defend to our death the Lord and that which he gives us all freely.
To back away at a time like the one which we now find ourselves living in, would be to deny the very One who gave His life so that I can live in eternity with Him.
I am, and continue to be in deep, very deep study and meditation of His word, for in my desire to join the fray of politics, I have moved too far away from that which He has called me to go.
However, I still hover ever so closely to the discussions that are more pertinent to His will. So from time to time, I will step aside from my meditation and studies when led by the Holy Spirit to defend my fellow Saints who are under attack.
At those times I will attempt to educate with the Word, His truth, and His Gospel, in an attempt enlighten those who are confused by their own misguided beliefs.
God bless you my FRiend, and may the Lord bless you in your endeavors.
