A huge problem is that the continuing instability of the world economy—breathlessly reported by the mass media around the world—is literally scaring people into closing their pocketbooks. As such, this affecting Walmart sales does not surprise me.

Our media here in the US is pretending things are going well. People are closing their pocketbooks because their own eyes tell them otherwise.
