You guys are correct in that you can't regulate good and healthy behavior with bigger government or in the local communities. When abnormal behavior is not treated as taboo, whether adultery, drunkenness, doperness, or homesexuality, the laws lose all meaning and can be argued ad-infinitum by lawyerly types or as we have seen by the current government, ignored outright.
A moral society can and will hold leaders feet to the fire. As the Founders knew, Liberty is shot if immorality abounds. All that's left is to personally vote against un-Godly agendas and those who promote them, and let the chips fall where they may. Fortunately our hope is not in this world.
