AFL-CIO: ‘Racism remains deeply rooted in American society’(no justice for Trayvon alert)

The AFL-CIO Executive Council passed a statement on racism and equality in response to the death of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin, Thursday.

Their statement, “A Call for Social and Economic Justice for Communities of Color” focused on the death of Martin and the “the sense of unrealized justice it left behind.”

“Trayvon’s death — and the subsequent trial — have reopened the deep and unresolved wound of racism in our country,” the statement reads. “Nearly 50 years after the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, we have made tremendous progress, but we still have a long way to go. Racism remains deeply rooted in American society.”

“The Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act and weakened anti-discrimination laws,” it continues. “Too many Americans are out of work and facing unfair and discriminatory barriers as they try to enter the workforce. Racial profiling occurs far too often, creating distrust in communities at a time when we need to be coming together.”

According to the Executive Council, Martin’s case is a “painful wake-up call” for more action, opportunity and justice.

“President Obama recently noted that we all need to do some soul-searching and start a conversation about race in America in families and churches and workplaces,” the statement continues. “As we re-dedicate ourselves to continue this march, along with our allies, we will heed the president’s call to begin conversations about race with our leadership, members and staff to ensure this tragedy leads to real action and tangible change.”

It adds that the organization will encourage its affiliates to work together to support policies that “that eliminate discrimination, profiling and gun violence and to denounce ‘stand your ground’ laws that are advanced by the anti-worker, pro-voter suppression American Legislative Exchange Council.”

“Racism remains deeply rooted in American society”

And vanilla is still favored over chocolate. So what? What is anyone going to do about it? Make it illegal? White people are racist, black people are racist, and Asians are racist. Get over it!

Every time I have asked someone who used the term “Social Justice” to define the term I get the answer: “Well you know like....” followed by a bunch of BS, emotional adjectives and feel good phrases. No two answers have ever been the same and I can imagine that the same would hold true for “Economic Justice”. My answer would be the opportunity to better one’s self and live by the consequences of your actions. You may succeed or fail based upon your own merits but don’t blame someone else. There is no guarantee for either outcome.

What are Union's going to do? Pass a law that makes it illegal to walk behind a black person?

Ahh, that's it. If a white person follows a black man and comes with 50 feet, the black man can 'punch out the white person - man or woman - for the 'insult' of daring to walk behind a black man. And if punching the person in the face and breaking their nose isn't enough they can knock the white person down and smash their head against the concrete until they die.

Yep, I can see why Union goons want to get behind the Trayvon insanity - they want the same rules applied to them... anyone walks behind a union goon or disses them in any way and the goon can kill that person...

We all want to live near these people, right?

It’s true. Blacks don’t like Latinos and Latinos definitely do not like Blacks. The race war that may happen won’t be between whites and other minorities.

The cure for Racism is to adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Gospels. And we can’t have THAT now, can we???

Absolutely not! We're to be hateful cheating lying miserable people but only to certain groups, Christians, Conservatives, etc. That's the secret.
