I love watermelon too. I've noticed here in LA they now sell "watermelon filets" which is the inside of the watermelon without seeds. I love them!
We grew them when I was growing up. We had the yellow ones, too. There is nothing better than going to the patch, picking out one, eat the best part and going to another one. I remember we did not have a good year one summer, so we bought them from a friend of my dad. They were 4 for $1. I was in MS last summer and there were some teens selling them on the square-—$7 each but they were huge. My brother and I bought 6 or 7. I was able to bring 2 home with me. My grandson makes fun of me and my watermelons. They know better than to get between a watermelon and me. When I was very young, people kept them in the freezer at the ice plant. Never figured out why they did not freeze. Really loved growing up in the country.
