I don’t think a civil lawsuit is going to go anywhere. The family has already collected a settlement from the insurance company for the homeowners’ association. This probably means the insurance company has effectively acknowledged that Zimmerman was acting on behalf of the association and is therefore protected by whatever personal indemnification provisions are written into the association’s bylaws and/or Florida law.
I can only hope the lawyers, clothing and hotels have used up all that money leaving them right where they started.
