Just took a year-long medical coding class.
You wouldn’t believe the horrible cr@p-storm drs have to go through. Heck there’s multiple codes for various abortions. Failed abortion gets a code, spontaneous abortion gets a code, successful abortion.......
And it hasn’t really even kicked in yet. Learned enough terminology and that I don’t want to be involved.
You really have to learn to talk medical in nursing also, but those that work with insurance’s have got to go nuts with so many rules etc....As a nurse, the first time I saw SOB I had to laugh....shorthand for short of breath..didn’t mean the patient was a nasty sob...
