On Wednesday, Gen. Abdel Fatah Said Al-Sisi announced a military coup in Egypt. He said that the Constitution had been suspended, that early elections would take place, and that there would be a “code of ethics” for the media. He stated that the chief of the Constitutional court would be taking charge during a transitional period before another election. He said the new government would be “diverse and include all the people,” and that the constitution would be revised to reverse changes made by ousted Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi.

On the plus side, this makes Dear Leader and that Patterson woman look even more incompetent, if that’s possible. Minus side: I haven’t the foggiest idea where all this will go. Does the junta proclaim a rational, civilized, at least unhostile posture toward Israel?

I would love to see a Copt in the Egyptian cabinet; maybe to a few judicial appointments, too.
Kudos to the Egyptian people, and so far, to their military. I pray they find a peaceful way to a decent, secular republic.
Chances are about 50/50 that they’ll elect another muslim brotherhood candidate or something just as bad or worse. The country is still split pretty evenly.
Now I hear them trotting out the name Mohammad ElBarediai and he’s just a global socialist who paints a happy face on the road to caliphate.

Obama is such a wimp he won’t do anything to Egypt. Look at his history. When he loses a confrontation he gives a snarky speech and then schedules a round of golf or another vacation.
