Sarah Palin Open To Leave GOP – Are You?
Freedom Outpost ^ | July 1, 2013 | C J Grisham

Posted on 07/01/2013 8:26:33 AM PDT by EXCH54FE

Lately, I’ve been finding that I’m increasing finding myself further and further from identifying with the Republican Party as well. I feel like I would need to hold my nose to pull the lever for almost everyone with an (R) after their name. I can count on one hand the Republicans that I identify with: Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Ron Paul (most of the time), Alan West (most of the time), and Sarah Palin.

Palin has signaled that she is receptive to starting a new party if the GOP continues to abandon its principles. Once-relied upon stalwarts of conservative ideals like Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan have backpedaled on such issues as immigration and taxation. At a time when our nation is struggling with high unemployment, explosive debt, spiraling terrorism and a decline in American exceptionalism, one would think that giving more attention and money to people who aren’t even citizens would be low on the importance scale.

The American people do not want amnesty, no matter what it is called. When our government wants to legalize people already wrongly in this country, it’s nothing like immigration reform. It’s rewarding illegal activity. Immigration reform means securing the border, creating a demand- and selective-based entrance requirements, and kicking out people here illegally.

We hear about all the talk of how financially prohibitive it would be to just deport millions of illegals, but we ignore how economically prohibitive it would be to legalize millions of people that rely on government assistance for their survival.

The majority of the illegal aliens in this country are low wage, low skill laborers. Under our current tax system, these people would immediately take in billions of dollars in tax money and put nothing back into the system. Sure, there will be some that will contribute to the pot of public money, but nowhere near what is needed to balance out the scales.

Unfortunately, we have a spineless Republican party populating the halls of congress and they show it through their repetitive votes for things like the NDAA, Patriot Act, and other unconstitutional legislation.

That we are hearing people like Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and many others talking about abandoning the GOP should raise eyebrows throughout this country. While a split of the Republican Party would give millions of Americans a home in a party that shares their beliefs, it would practically ensure that the Democrat party wins at least the next two election cycles. There wouldn’t be enough conservative independents like me to sway the political wind towards a Freedom Party sweep. Sure, we’d win some districts and get some candidates into office, but with whom would we caucus? And can we afford to have Democrats in control of our country for the next ten years?

Unfortunately, I think that’s the unfortunate price we’d have to pay to right this ship that is so far off course. We have to start somewhere. The Republicans are lost and we can’t change it from within. Again, there are people that sound good and vote right, but there aren’t enough of them. I personally can’t wait for the opportunity to jump onto the Freedom Party ship.

I left the GOP over 10 years ago. Still waiting for a viable third party to show up.

They are tied to Big Business, the left is tied to Big Government, and there exists a symbiotic relationship between the two sides.

It is called Fascism.

Me too, I still mostly vote GOP since I live in Texas and we elect conservatives here (knock on wood). But I could not bring myself to vote McCain in 2008, that was just a “bridge to far” for me.

I was going to post the exact same thing!

I definitely feel abandoned by the GOP and it's time for me to move on. I'm an independent right now but would be willing to join a new party should it come along - especially if Palin is a part of it.

Any new party should completely rethink the awful nomination process that has produced the likes of Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney as presidential nominees.

The Democrats have the same flawed process but they don't seem to be too unhappy with the results.

Anyway, the fact that the presidential nominee is usually chosen by the time Texans, Californians, and many other states get to weigh in is absolutely inexcusable. What we need to go to is multiple national primaries (held in each of the 50 states at once). For example, one set of primaries to be held in January (to weed out the pretenders), one set at the end of March (to determine the finalists) and then one final set of primaries in June to determine the nominee. This can and should be done.

I'm still a registered Republican - but surely closer to bolting.
Waiting for a good, "impact" reason (like maybe a "Freedom Party").

>>I already did - when the R’s controlled both elected branches of government and STILL spent like drunken sailors and pushed big government.

Same reason I left. Waited my whole life for the R’s to have presidency, senate and house to really get the government under control...boy was I surprised and disgusted...thanks for nothing GWB.

I said the same thing on the air on WMAL Radio in DC this morning. One of the hosts, after cutting me off, asked was I willing to let the Democrats dominate politics for a decade or two to come.

If I still was live, I would have responded: and how does that essentially change anything from the current situation ???

"...If Conservatives are sincere about this movement I anticipate it would take 8-10 years...."

Realistically, we don't HAVE 8 years - we won't make it much past the 2016 "election".

I left at the end of Bush II's first term. He reneged on no nation building and privatization of social security. He expanded government, blew money on aids to Africa, increased funding the psychotropical drugs for mostly American boys, and opened all the doors to illegal immigrants.

It was not a hard decision.

In order to kill the beast, we first need to kill the Republican Party. Then draw conservatives and un-enrolled conservatives together into a new party who cherish the individual and strip the elite of political privilege. This party needs to be wise about its platform. Gays: accept them for adult choices in the privacy of their bedrooms; stop the pederasty ones from recruiting children in the schools in the GSLBQ groups. Abortion: Let the states sort it out with their constituents. Second Amendment: universal reciprocity for conceal carry. If they can do that for drivers licenses, they can do that for a constitutional right. This party should hold a view that laws apply universally meaning the end of affirmative action, punitive views against Christians, and blinders about the religion of peace.

As mush as many conservatives want to say America is founded on Christian beliefs, it ought to stick to promoting and living by a nation of laws with a constitutional framework.

This party will need to include news outlets to promote its positive views. Its media will need to work at reading through the drek published by the left and exposing their sick beliefs.

My take is, even IF the “third party syndrome” kicks in, so what...republicans are going to lose in 2016 anyway.

By then, you won’t be able to tell the two parties apart. At least a true conservative, grass roots party would give us a place to go, and band together to fight the tyranny.

The tea party already gives the libs the heebie-jeebies, so being an organized grass roots would be a refuge for the patriotic.

I’m ready to dump the GOP.

What really needs to happen is for the Liberty or Tea Party to do what the Christian Right did for Reagan and take over the party in a grass roots effort that is so strong the Rinos or back then called the "Country Club" republicans get tossed. Otherwise you will fail. We are a two party system and that system has been stacked for two parties....You will start with impossible odds that would take a miracle not to mention the astronomical amount of money to overcome.

If you think it through, with all the Rinos being primaried lately it is starting to happen.

They need to pick one candidate that has been put through some fire already and only run that person, not 20 conservatives. MOST IMPORTANT, when that candidate gets vilified in the press....keep pushing back, not running for the hills! Brazen it out strongly until the end.
