At worst, they were supposed to capture Amb Stevens and allow obama to triumphantly negotiate his release just in time to prove he's no Carter and cinch the election.

They were “hung out to dry” b/c Hillary! and 0bama wanted to bolster the “light footprint” image for how the 0 administration dealt with the Moslem areas.
Unfortunatly, not all the al quida groups got the light footprint memo.
