I am so sorry about your brother. Did he have symptoms for a long time before diagnosis IPF is a very personal disease. No two patient are the same. I actually am one of the lucky ones. 11 years, but getting worse. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes, because it is rare one feels all alone and very misunderstood.

He had been going to doctors and getting diagnosed with ‘pneumonia’ for about 2 years. They would do rounds of antibiotics and such and say he was fine, then it would happen again. He was a heavy smoker and we think that may have camoflauged some of his symptoms. He also had md which may have been what they excused some of his issues with. It wasn’t until he went to the er with what they called a heart attack that they realized there was something a lot worse wrong with him, his heart was fine, not so his lungs.
