NSA Leaker Comes Forward: ‘I Know I Have Done Nothing Wrong’
The Blaze ^ | 6-9-2013 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Posted on 06/09/2013 12:16:55 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

A 29-year-old former CIA worker and current defense contractor employee has come forward as the source of the National Security Agency leaks to The Guardian newspaper:

The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.

The Guardian, after several days of interviews, is revealing his identity at his request. From the moment he decided to disclose numerous top-secret documents to the public, he was determined not to opt for the protection of anonymity. “I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

Snowden will go down in history as one of America’s most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world’s most secretive organisations – the NSA.

In a note accompanying the first set of documents he provided, he wrote: “I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions,” but “I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant.”

Verizon holds the government contract. Do you really think they would dig on fellow government employees. SCOTUS? Congress? CIA? DOJ?
Yesterday someone asked if material could be modified or augmented. Good question IMO . Particularly since media for whatever reason would pile on !

My understanding from what I've read is that the Justice Department and FBI are the entities that got the information on US citizens for monitoring and that a court order was required to allow or force that information into the NSA’s systems for further use.

If so, then the NSA is, strictly speaking, not in the “wrong.”

This is much more likely something Holder or Obama thought up. The articles I've read show that there were some abuses by NSA workers by listening into conversations and spying on international communications to or from the US with officers in Afghanistan and elsewhere. However, can any of you point to definite abuse mentioned by the NSA without having the Justice Department or FBI involved, first, along with a FISA judge?

Of course, the Guardian is following up with this story. We have to depend on the Brits to do some actual journalism?

Maybe newly chosen Obamanation Reich Minister of National Security Suzy-Que Rice-biscuit will market her latest video?

What I’m getting at is this:

If no abuses were happening with the NSA on strictly domestic-to-domestic operations, then Snowden’s breach, to the extent that he’s stated, was not really appropriate. It would seem he should have broken open the abuses of the Obama Administration as to how they put information into the NSA’s purview, against standard procedure. Since the FBI or Justice Department was behind the indiscriminate capture of domestic-only information, we should be most bothered by that.

Again, is anyone aware of tools such as PRISM being used by the FBI or Justice Department? If the NSA is only spying on foreign communications, as it should, then these tools, although quite concerning, are being used in their appropriate ways. If the FBI or Justice Department are able to use them, then, with their charters (for all-domestic surveillance), we are screwed. It is this abuse, or the feeding of inappropriate information back to the FBI or Justice Department, that should have been stated by Snowden. As it is, he’s cr**ped on the military.

Generally, I trust our military (NSA) over our union-run civilian departments (Justice or FBI). The military is expected to refuse unlawful orders. The rest are just hacks.

Just checked over there. I am now back here. I need a good hose down. Be that as it may.....

"DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND" lib/socialist website (except for just a small sample of dissenters) is eerily SILENT on this whole thing.

And yet, they would be going absolutely BAT SH*T over it, were it on Bush' watch

Which right there tells you something. When the Obamatrons are eerily silent on something that Obama and the NSA under his direction does and not opposing it, that necessarily means they are in support.

And what is the extrapolation if the great majority of DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND remains in support of some massive US Government telecom surveillance and spying scheme? Does anyone really think it is the MUSLIMS they are eventually going to target? With Muslims in senior USG positions? Ask yourself who the Federal Govt. has been badmouthing these days: gun owners, conservatives, tea parties, Christians, pro-lifers, opponents to Obamacare.

Then you will begin to understand how potentially scary and nightmarish this whole sordid thing is.....

None of them are union run however. That doesn't mean they are perfect however.

Frankly, the leaker is leaking his perception ~ not the reality. They compartmentalize operations in an effort to prevent all the goodies being handed over to the enemy ~ hence, the great efforts made by the enemies, and potential enemies, to plant deep cover operatives somewhere in the system.

The Chicoms most likely planted this guy just to prove to our guys that they could do it ~ rather like shooting down a satellite.

I’m worried that the NSA has so much dirt on our perverted politician’s private lives and has them so under the threat of blackmail that nothing will come of this.

We all suspected what happened to John Roberts. Now we know.

What do you think is happening now in Congress? Everyone is being threatened. We have a Congress of hostages.

I appreciate that he is describing the vastness of the abuse of Americans without disclosing particulars on any American.

That makes it harder to prosecute him.

“Unreasonable search and seizure.”

Maybe the Constitution still has meaning. We’ll find out now!

They already have the DNA of every child born in this country in the past 10 years. Permanently.

My kids were all born at home, and they're home schooled. How does the gubmint have their DNA on file?
