I have always contended there is a downside to social media the public simply ignores. When you create an account with a company like LinkedIn, you enter into a contract with LinkedIn that essentially says they can use your data FOR ANY COMMERCIAL PURPOSE WHATSOEVER. What this means is all FedGov has to do is to say to LinkedIn “I'll give you $X million per year for you to feed us all your user data”. You have given your permission for this already when you clicked on the button that said you agreed with LinkIn’s User Agreement when you created your account. Noboby seems to read these agreements or understand what these agreements say. The bottom line is FedGov is using tax dollars taken from Americans to buy data to spy on Americans.

Which is why I don't facebook, seldom twitter (and then just a minimum), and have little on linkedin. Bare minima or no participation. People give away things they don't realize even when they think they are paying attention.
If someone wanted to go through all my years of back posts, they could figure out who I am (maybe), but I try to keep the trail scant and broken if I can.
