When digital photography really took off, every photog magazine had a gazillion articles expounding on the holiness of Photoshop.

I saw it coming, one program to be ‘the one’ because everybody heard it from their friends, that PS was so great.

Hey program developers! As long as there are those that will develop their own programs, that do all that is really necessary, and for free, you are going to lose money!

I use an earlier version of IrfanView, and it does all I need. I still own a few “prosumer” digital cameras, and I see no need to go out and get a Canon with all the lenses, that aren’t cheap, for the amount of photography I do.

I used to own 35mm bodies, and all the lenses, including the what-was-new-a-millenium-ago coffee can size Mak-style telephoto lens. When I started to look at photography again, I was looking at the Questar set-up, but when I turned the page, to the price, “No can do, GI!”

Are you merely reporting speculation or is there an actual article that you could link to?

Ken in Texas asked, “Are you merely reporting speculation or is there an actual article that you could link to?”

Depends on what you’re asking.

Getting ready to jump in the shower, dress, and with my wife join my daughter-in-law and our young grandchildren at Henry’s Puffy Tacos on Bandera. Son is TDY.

So, if you’re requesting a link to something specific. I’ll look at the request when next I fire up the computer.

Which subject in this thread are you asking about?

Thanks, much.
R.

Lets hope they don’t start charging for the Acrobat reader and Flash Player. These programs are used everywhere.

I strongly doubt it though.

I hate it. I was saving up to upgrade from CS5 to CS7. Now I have to debate with myself whether I want to upgrade to CS6 at all.

I definitely won’t be doing the Creative Cloud thing.

Oh, Ken, I see your question goes to my original post at #1.

Not speculation. Experience. With many Adobe abandoned software. Spent lots of money on Adobe abandoned software.

Will comment when I’m well stuffed with original San Antonio puffy tacos. Meanwhile, refine your question.

Good to have you ask the question.

Yeah Flash Player is also a memory hog, system pig, and source of the only crashes I get anymore. Can’t wait until somebody (HTML5 please) shoots that piece of crap in the head.

Steve Jobs, is that you?

No just a person who’s tired of watching bad software dominate a market. No my fault Jobs’ criticism of Flash was 2/3 accurate (and 1/3 silly, complaining that something is closed architecture while closing your architecture to it is retarded).

Flash is the only software I know that is crash agnostic. It hates to run on everything.

Meanwhile, refine your question.

I'm not sure what there is to refine. Your original post said: "Adobe . . . has made a bold move to abandon their customers . . . and force them into a subscription sales model".

I have not seen any articles about it and your post did not provide any references. If you are merely speculating based on your experience, that's fine. Just curious. Enjoy your tacos.

Just got out of the shower and dressed to go.

Will provide a list, comment and response in a few hours. You and others may judge be it speculation or experience.

May be a little later than that. Tonight, Spurs are doing Miami. (Hopefully not the reverse.) Go Spurs!

Wife is getting dressed. So, got a moment to comment on puffy tacos . . . something supposed unique to San Antonio.

Supposedly, the founder of Henry’s Puffy Tacos on Woodlawn, near to downtown created the deep fried corn and stuffed tortilla. Where we’re going is their second restaurant. But legend says he invented the puffy taco at Ray’s Drive-in, just a few miles from here. I’ve eaten at Ray’s many times. Curious to see how the puffy tacos compare.

Grandkids have never had puffy tacos.

Of course, this is an opinion thread. FR labeled it so. After my comments, you judge . . . speculation or experience.

Thanks. Hopefully will enjoy my tacos. Will also report back on that!

You can do a la carte with Photoshop. $10 a month for the first year if you have CS5 (Could be 4 as well) and CS6 but $20 (And probably up in future years, why not, Adobe has you by the short hairs) after that.

The suite is $50 a month for a year; $70+ a month if you want to use it without having to agree with a year contract.

Lightroom stills has perpetual licensing, but many fear that won't last. Adobe has “assured” Lightroom users that a subscription model will not be forced on users, but said some updates might require Cloud “computing” and those subscribed to Adobe's “Cloud”/dedicated servers will be able to take advantage of those Lightroom “upgrades”.

How 'bout them Spurs! This going to be a great series!

Saw rollo tomasi's posts to you at #94 and #95.

Boy, am I glad.

I did not understand you did not know. I thought by now everyone knew. And, not knowing, I was scratching my head how to answer.

Apologies.

Tacos were great. Not as great as I remember them from Ray's Drive-in, but great! But, really great were the spicy beef fajitas, because the beef was so tender! Highly recommend Henry's Puffy Tacos in San Antonio on Bandera.

This post written with Dreamweaver CS6 . . . which may become a family heirloom. :-)

For a year I could get the same not bad deal for $30 a month, because I own a license for Creative Suite Master Collection CS6.

What makes it a bad and unacceptable deal is what happens when we stop paying the rent. The software stops working.
