New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg not intimidated by ricin-laced letters
CBS News ^ | May 30, 2013

Federal investigators are trying to figure out who sent two threatening letters laced with the deadly poison ricin to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his gun-control group in Washington.

CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano reports that authorities say responding officers who came into contact with the letter in New York suffered some minor symptoms. No one was seriously hurt, but now a joint terrorism task force, including the FBI and the NYPD, is investigating.

Bloomberg spoke with reporters shortly after the threats against him became public Wednesday evening.

"No, I'm not angry," said Bloomberg. "There are people who, I would argue, do things that may be irrational, do things that are wrong, but it's a very complex world out there, and we just have to deal with that."

On Friday, a worker at a mail facility in lower Manhattan intercepted a letter addressed to Bloomberg that was laced with ricin - a highly toxic poison.

Another tainted letter was discovered two days later in Washington at a building that houses Mayors Against Illegal Guns - a non-profit group Bloomberg helped start. That envelope was addressed to the group's director, Mark Glaze.

Both mailings were postmarked May 20 from Shreveport, La., with no return address.

He’s not afraid of Ricin, but a Big Gulp sends him ducking for cover.

What a maroon.

Statement: "New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg not intimidated by ricin-laced letters"

Response: Because he knows they will never reach him personally and if they kill any poor soul it will be one of his low level clerks.

Of course he isn’t rattled....because one of his gun hating cop buddies mailed the letter to him with an NRA sticker on it or some sort of pro-gun message in order to implicate the “inherent violence” of God-fearing, gun owning, white male Christians!

"do things that may be irrational, do things that are wrong,"

Hey Bloomie - you are describing yourself perfectly. What does controlling citizen's salt and soda have to do w/being mayor?

I like how he says he is not angry, and that people do “irrational things”.

Are you serious?! Irrational things?! Sending ricin in the mail, especially to an elected official, is a “criminal” and/or “terrorist” thing. He should be angry, and seek to find and prosecute the criminal. He sounds like he is making excuses for the person.

“It’s not his fault he sent these letters... we should examine what fault in society motivated this action. It was probably Cola.”

I'm guessing someone in his gun control group is doing it at Bloomturds suggestion to make it seem like he's being threatened. Ricin is a particularly ineffective contact or ingested poison. Injected is another matter, but touching is not likely to cause harm unless there are open sores present. And a letter to a public official like b'turd is extremely unlikely to actually be read and touched by him. I can think of several other substances that would be better, and a number of other methods that would be more effective of ridding NYC of its most pompous and self important (but not largest) cockroach.

I'm reminded of the many "racial slurs" that are found on black people's houses - 99% of the time put there by the selfsame blacks.

A truly ruthless individual would use an ied near where the cockroach walks or is chauffered. those walking with him would be considered as a bonus by a truely ruthless individual.

A prince with a food taster would not be intimidated by a poisoner, either.

Right. And a prince with bodyguards doesn't need a gun.

Mayor Blooming Hypocrite

As long as they were smaller than a Big Gulp and had no added salt , I see no need for complaints from Mr Mayor.

He eats Ricen Krispies for breakfast!

it seems to have affected his brain.

That’s what made him anti-gun, anti-Capitalism and pro-nonsense.

Someone nitwit in his own anti constitution group may have sent it to restart Bloomberg’s failing campaign.

Ricin doesn’t scare him, but threaten him with a 32 oz soft drink and he’s ready for a cot at Bellevue in a rubber room.
