Rubio Can't Defend His Own Immigration Bill By Stanley Kurtz May 25, 2013 1:47 PM Comments 4
Senator Marco Rubio appeared on a special edition of the Hannity show last night on behalf of the Gang of Eights immigration bill, otherwise known as Schumer-Rubio. His case for the bill was unpersuasive and, at times, incoherent. You can see substantial portions of the show in three online videos.
An example of the fundamental problem comes at around 9:309:50 into the first video, where Rubio responds to the claim that the border security provisions of the bill are too weak and too dependent on the actions of unwilling enforcers to be trusted. Heres my transcription of Rubios reply:
The problem is that people do not trust this administration and the federal government in general to do the law. So its pretty straightforward and I tell this to people all the time. If we can figure out a way to write a bill that ensures that the border will be secured, I believe immigration reform will happen. If we cannot do that or fail to do that, I do not believe immigration reform can or should happen. And so really, this issue at the end of the day is about getting that part of it right.
This was the first of several times in the broadcast that Rubio distanced himself from his own bill, refusing to defend its security provisions and at least appearing to claim instead that, as it stands at the moment, the bill is unsatisfactory and undeserving of support. Yet Rubio has been defending the bill far and wide, even appearing in an ad on its behalfan ad that touts the bills security provisions.

Rubio's career may or may not be salvageable but he has to abandon this immigration 'reform' bill that is nothing but a Democrat scam to secure millions of votes from formally illegal aliens.
Should Rubio stick with it, he'll go down with that ship and the left will gloat while the right walks away from Marco Rubio, leaving him with nothing to show for his lapse of judgment and the allure of promised leadership positions in the senate given by the Old Guard...who lied.
Schumer has played this fool like a fiddle while allowing Rubio to destroy himself to boot.
What happened?
Why are you making this about that poster?
Oh that's right, you blamed me for the policies of a tea party org and whined that I was making it all about you when I simply asked what are you doing for the cause.
Your answer: What can on little ol' person do? LOL, ever hear of the TPM?
Hypocrite.
A lot of people thought this guy was Presidential material. In addition to making a fool of himself, Rubio has made fools of Rush, Mark Levin, and Hannity. Not so much that he fooled them in the first place, but that they continue to coddle him. He’d have crashed and burned on this issue long ago if it wasn’t for them.
But, most of the Immigration ads in support of Marco and Lindsey have been coming from FWD.US, Zuckerberg[facebook founder] PAC that wants more immigrants from overseas to do jobs here.
Joy.
If schumer is co-sponsoring your bill, you’ve got to think there’s a problem!
And on the other thread you didn't respond to any of the comments made, all you could do is attempt to make it about me....Total evasion....Should I go to that thread and repost if for ya?
Or would ya rather I be censored?
Lemme know.
BTW Mr. Syncro, that's a GD lie and you know it.
Hmmmm, swearing and calling me a liar in the same post?
A false personal attack btw.
I’ll wait for the mods to see it, I won’t report it.
Democrats never have this problem with their bills, since to their supporters the gesture being made always is more important than the potential side-effects of the legislation.
School yard comments? Just wait till the teacher sees this!!...yuk yuk...
Still attempting to make me the issue as you divert and evade I see.
No sale Mr. Syncro~
(.....y' know, the pricy commercial that's being backed and funded by a shadowy group of lefty RINOs.....).
Then he should make sure it's not only disavowed but YANKED.
Then he and Ryan should go out somewhere in downtown DC and get drunk......and then cry on each other's shoulders about how their naive, gullible, stupid and over-ambitious position on the amnesty issue has become a potential career-wrecker for each of them.
Leni
Rubio is a RINO. Always has been. Do not be fooled.
"The poster above attempted to blame others in D.C. for Rubio's actions"There you go again, making something out of a simple truth, ie "It did not take long for the DC crowd to corrupt Rubio"
Get more familiar with the way that the good old boy GOPe politicians work, when the Tea Party candidates got voted in, the ole timers vowed to corrupt them, and for some of them it took.
BTW it's common courtesy to ping someone you are talking about, especially if you are twisting what they say so you can go off on them.
And on the other thread you didn't respond to any of the comments made, all you could do is attempt to make it about me....Total evasion....Should I go to that thread and repost if [it?] for ya?
Oh what an ego! LOL @ making it about you hahaha!
If you would bother to read the thread in question, you will see I already answered on that thread how the Tea Party Express principles fight against amnesty. One of your af'er buddies commented on that post of mine, and then went "poof", FR isn't worth it.
Yep that seems to be your style when cornered.
LOL you nailed it my friend!
Good one girl....
What I believe has happened here is that the big fish used this little fish to advance their agenda and at the same time destroyed his political future about as fast as I’ve ever seen one destroyed.
Rubio is also to blame in this. He has demonstrated that either he lacks the political skills to see the trap laid out for him that he walked right into, or he has demonstrated that he lacks the honesty required of a person who intends to help America return to her proper course, or he has demonstrated both of my previous examples.
Whatever ever the case, I’ve no use or like for this man. I regret voting for him. I feel as if I have been made a fool of, and I am not happy about that at all.
I will not be voting for Marco Rubio again.
Furthermore, I expect that this bill was never meant to pass. That is why it is currently being loaded with poison pills that they expect will kill it, and then it can be used to paint republicans as anti Hispanic.
But my fear is that, knowing the bill’s non-passage will be laid at the feet of the GOP, the GOP will pass it poison pills and all, and then America is screwed.
There you go. Exactly right...
