I didn’t know the parents had the ability to jail or hang a pedophile.
Bratch said "quietly". It's central Florida, Sebastian River National Park.
I really thought she was underaged too. I thought she was 17.
This should have been handled by the parents, quietly, rather than blown up into a national debate that will leave all parties scarred.

I have to agree. Putting the 18 yo behind bars is not the only way to end their relationship. The parents of the 14 yo could have pulled their daughter from that school and moved her to another, or begun homeschooling. If they think that putting the 18 yo in prison is the only way to keep their young daughter from seeing her, then they don’t have much control in their own family.
But worded so it sounds like the parents are homophobes instead of parents who want their kids protected from sexual predators.
Probably should have homeschooled that girl in Steubenville too--or just moved. I mean, can't have rapists getting their feelings hurt, can we?
The 14 year old is a runaway who clearly has family/mental/emotional problems. The older lesbian is the predator. That’s the standard pattern. This can’t get wide enough coverage.
Kaitlyn Hunt's parents say that the younger girl's parents demanded that Kaitlyn be arrested because they can't come to terms with the fact that their teenage daughter had a relationship with another girl
The whole narrative about the parents of the younger girl being most upset because it was with another girl comes exclusively from the parents of the older girl.
Maybe they'd like to see her put in prison to, oh I don't know, maybe keep her from doing it to other 14-year-olds? You are accusing them of wanting the prosecution for familial reasons...a way to perform discipline in their home. To merely "keep their young daughter from seeing her."
