One individual case is irrelevant to the nature of the law and I was not saying or implying that the particular scenario was directly applicable to this case. What I was pointing out was that if they DID have sex the day before her 18th birthday and the day after, the first would be legal and the second illegal.

Do you think that is a good law? Do you think an 18 year old having sex with a 17 year old (once again a hypothetical case, not this particular case) should be a crime worthy of prison and lifelong membership as a sexual offender?
