How common are basements / storm bunkers there?
Amazing, just in seconds it dissipates so fast.
Basements are not common at all. I hope a lot of folks added shelters after 1999.
Basements don’t (usually) work in Oklahoma because of the clay soil and high water table. Most houses don’t have one.
Good question...
I can’t imagine living in Tornedo Alley and not have an under ground bunker with supplies in the back yard. The kids in school went into the hallway for protection, they say...don’t think that would make me feel safe.
Maybe legislation requiring developers to put in bunkers when they build houses???
For whatever reason (they say it’s the soil), we don’t have basements in OK or TX, for the most part. Many people install storm shelters or safe rooms, but they are expensive.
