Carbon dioxide levels reach all-time high prompting new warnings about climate change

Carbon dioxide levels have reached its highest throughout human history, recent figures from a US monitoring station show.

The level in our atmosphere is now at a record high 400 parts per million, prompting renewed warnings of the ‘huge risks’ of climate change.

The shocking figures, which have risen from 270ppm before the Industrial Revolution, is a result of human activity such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.

The preliminary figures have come from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) monitoring station in Hawaii.

The greenhouse gas has not been at such high levels for around three million years.

The prehistoric climate had anaverage temperatures were 2C-3C higher and sea levels were around 20 metres above what they are today, Bob Ward of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at London School of Economics, said.

‘We are creating a prehistoric climate in which human societies will face huge and potentially catastrophic risks.

‘Only by urgently reducing global emissions will we be able to bring carbon dioxide levels down and avoid the full consequences of turning back the climate clock by three million years,’ he said.

Greenpeace UK executive director John Sauven said: ‘Our common future is now bound up with this one simple measurement, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, and it now stands well above what some of our greatest scientific minds say is safe.

‘The implications are grave, we're facing major adverse planetary changes, our seasons are shifting faster than we thought possible, but even now there is still cause for hope.

The Dems will use this for more government expansion, regulations, taxes, funding, etc.

If CO2, as some studies suggest, is a lagging indicator of warming, then this may simply be a response to last century's natural warming cycle (which according to the Brit Met Office, stopped 16 years ago).

Of course that assumes that the CO2 data are legitimate, statistically valid, and unfudged. That's far from certain.

Al Gore used his unexpected “time off” to test whether or not the American people were collectively stupid enough to vote for a dictatorial regime. NOAA is over-budgeted and starting to forecast health risks in addition to weather risks.

The monitoring station on top of the world’s greatest live volcano says the CO2 emissions nearby are OFF THE CHARTS. I’d relocate the station if it were up to me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjGHwGkFIFw

It`ll be 28 degrees here due to gullible warming.

It is either a lagging indicator or unrelated. Guess which one the agenda driven scientists will promote.

The Weather Channel (NBC’s 24/7 science propaganda channel) is in full panic mode.

They even has a guy on explaining why the lack of tornados this spring is due to polar ice melt.

At some point, someone really ought to tell these self-styled “climate scientists” about photosynthesis.

330 plus or minus 10 ppm is in my 1959 meteorology text for CO2.
I don’t recall being shocked at this number compared to pre industrial revolution. Of course 1959 was a naive period.
parts per million, people!!

I quit watching the WC once they whole heartedly embraced glo-ball warming and climate change and the CO2’s gonna kill us all campaign.

The shocking figures,

The author is clueless. 400 ppm is about as shocking as Al Gore leaving all the lights on in his mansion. The CO2 may have been that high in previous interglacials due to extra warmth, but ice cores smooth the readings so there's no way to know. The most likely time that CO2 was 400 or higher was during the Pleistocene where Central America had a hole letting the Pacific mix with the Atlantic. That caused global warming which in turn caused high CO2 levels.

Carbon dioxide levels reach all time high - excellent for plants and trees, if true.

Somehow, I doubt it.
