Seventy-year-old Michael Salame has eight heart stents, nerve damage and apparently quite a right hook, as an alleged home invader found out.
It was about 3 a.m. Saturday when Salame was at home with his girlfriend and heard something outside.
He didnt realize the intruder, identified as 24-year-old Timothy Adams, had already shattered a window and climbed inside; but early proof the burglar wasnt on the ball came when he walked right through a door across from the window putting him right back outside again.
So when Salame spotted the man outside stumbling over his trash barrels, he called 911. By then, Adams was back in the house and the two were face-to-face in the foyer.
I went to the other side of the house to call the police department and didnt want to spook him so I didnt turn any lights on, Salame said. I turned around and there he was, he was inside my house.
Salame said he was in no mood for visitors.
He came in and thats when I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him down on the floor and told him to stay on the floor and not to put his hands in his pockets. I didnt know if he had a knife or a gun on him, Salame said.

I agree. If an intruder breaks into your home in the middle of the night, you should not try to fight him.
You should simply shoot him.
My response to, “there’s nothing in your home worth taking a life over” has been, “he thinks there is”.
Gardner, MA. “The Furniture Capital of New England”
My response has always been that if someone breaks into your home you do not know what they are after. Maybe he is after your VCR or maybe he is a pedophile rapist looking for victims.
Bottom line, if you don't want me to shoot you, then don't break into my home.
But it’s MA, so there was never any chance that the burglar would get the chair.
...theres nothing in your home worth taking a life over...
Whoever uttered this asinine statement evidently thinks their family’s lives are worth nothing.....
Well, there you go.
How about that a 70 year old man at home with his girl friend! Don’t ever interrupt him! LOL sounds like he has a gun now he needs a firearm!
My response to, theres nothing in your home worth taking a life over is my family and my life is worth protecting. If I have to kill someone then they made a career ending choice.
That reminds me of the joke that goes like this: Mary Anne was walking down a dark street one night when a big man jumped out of the shadows and began tearing her clothes off. She wasn't worried, though. She knew she'd left her money at home.
Heh heh.
