Where were you on Wednesday, May 4, 1977?

That’s easy. I was at my second Kentucky Derby Festival in beautiful Louisville with the US Navy Steel Band. We played a morning concert in Freedom Hall at the Kentucky State Fair and Exposition Center, had a youumy lunch at Ollie’s Trolly (Ollie Burgers and spicey fries), played an afternoon concert at Louisville Waterfront Park for our old pals the Blue Angels’ Air Show and then boarded The Belle Of Louisville for dinner and The Great Steamboat Race (we lost) followed by a moonlight concert and mint julips in the steamboat’s ballroom. After the river cruise about half of us hightailed over to the Kentucky Derby Jam in time to catch the last half of Charlie Daniel’s set and The Allman Brothers who closed the show. What a fine day!

You had more fun than I did.
