Report: Half of staff may quit LA Times if right-wing Koch brothers buy paper

Call their bluff. Break the left’s media monopoly. Then rename the paper the “Los Angeles Kochtopus,” just to spite them.

At a Los Angeles Times in-house awards ceremony a week ago, columnist Steve Lopez addressed the elephant in the room…

Facing the elephant trunk-on, “Raise your hand if you would quit if the paper was bought by the Koch brothers.” About half the staff raised their hands.

Perhaps one brave Times reporter would go public with a story killed by the new owners. She would lose her job, and it would be written about in The New York Times. And, it would pressure the LA Times owners to be more objective. But many of the people working at the Times support a family or are still developing their careers and can’t afford to lose their jobs — especially in a town with few job opportunities for newspaper journalists.

If half the staff quit under Koch ownership, that would leave half as many people likely to stand up to the owners — not to mention a huge loss of talented journalists who have built a wealth of LA knowledge and relationships over years of experience.

Half may be an underestimate. According to lefty Harold Meyerson, “A recent informal poll that one L.A. Times writer conducted of his colleagues showed that almost all planned to exit if the Kochs took control (and that included sportswriters and arts writers).” Cheap bravado among like-minded liberals or a bona fide threat? There’s only one way to know for sure.

Just because the media calls someone conservative doesn’t make them conservative. The Koch Brothers are said to the pro gay marriage and they are kind of folks who are promoting ‘immigration reform.”

This would create more RINO media, not conservative media.

"I bid $4.00 for the artwork on the sixth floor."

Any library-style book cases?

I really, really, really want people to know where I stand.

So I've got dibs on book cases and a selection of lamps to choose from.

This could be a win-win-win.

I don’t think you can file for benefits if you resign, and I just don’t see that many openings for marxist, pro illegal immigrant, America hating pool turds in the few newspapers that are left in California.

I wonder if those threatening to quit actually proves conservative’s points that the “media” are truly left-wing biased and it shows in their writing/reporting. The threat to quit implies that they believe they won’t be able to spin the stories they report on in a liberal fashion.

When they quit because of their idealism, they are useless as journalists anyway. I would offer a thouand dollar bonus for anybody that quits.

Now the paper has to make money, and unless the Feral Government starts handing out papers as part of welfare, leftists don’t really pay for things.

Back in the days of Nixon moderate Republicans of the Rockefeller type were constantly painted as conservatives by the liberal media.

The Koch brothers fit those categories.

We need to stop the mainstream media from doing our thinking for us. We need to question what they say as well as the GOP-E fed media like talk show hosts and Fox News say.

The most expanding job market in America is the Feral Government and that is exactly what they want.

Half the staff will quit? Well that will certainly make the new HR person’s job easier and he won’t take a big hit on unemployment tax. Sounds like good news to me.

... LOL .... I've been in the LA Times during their normal Biz hours. And well .... guess that would pretty much leave them with two employees!

MEMO to those who quit: There are few opportunities for your left wing open minded journalism but we are happy you are leaving. Don’t let the door hit you in the backside on the way out. BTW, when you quit, no unemployment for you and thanks for helping bring the bottom line up with less dead wood on the staff.
