He has to be vulnerable at this point. We need to turn up the heat in West Virginia. They won’t be interested in hearing about tax cuts for millionaires but I suspect they’ll listen to the rest of what the tea party has to say.

West Virginia is a conservative pro gun state. Manchin got himself elected by posing as a “different kind of Democrat”, conservative, pro gun, etc. well, it appears to me he is now outed.

He doesn't face re-election til 2016. He's hoping people will forget by then.

West ‘by God’ Virginians. Go after this traitorous newby and cancel his ticket!

We would love to, unfortunately he was able to convince enough gun owners, by running commercials were he shot the president's "Cap and Trade" bill, into believing that he was "one of us". That he get elected to a full six year term last November (in a state that voted against Obama by a 30 percent margin). Since West Virginia isn't a "recall" state, we are stuck with him until 2018...

I love the STRONG attitude. I believe you will have success with that approach Sen. Manchin. Keep up the good work!

Now he's just being stupid. If they didn't vote for it the first time, they're not going to buy it the second time.

If they don't succeed the first time, try a second, and a third, etc until it passes. Custom tells us that once a law it is almost impossible to repeal it. We are in deep shi! unless we get the Senate and keep the House. And after 2016 and King Obama has voided elections, the dictator will pen it a law. Keep our eye on impeachment.

After all that's come out about the Boston bombers and how they 'slipped through the cracks', I have to wonder what good the NICS system is anymore.

Evidently you can be 'watched' closely by the FBI, travel to and from Jihad central by airplane, have foreign governments prompting the Feds to scrutinize your doings, amass a few Lautenberg convictions, acquire Porsches and Mercedes and Land Rovers with no visible means of support, build bombs from out-of-state fireworks, Get a gun anyway, Twitter your Jihad plans to your mother, still get scholarships to the best schools in New England, attend your US citizenship swearing-in ceremony, and live right down there amongst the liberals in Cambridge Massachusetts being 'radicalized' at the local mosque. If you need a gun, you can attempt to kill a policeman and take HIS gun if you can figure out how to release it from his holster. After your home-made bombs go off, the Feds won't even be entirely sure who you unless they get lucky and you make a mistake while on the lam.

The hell do they think they'll accomplish with a 'background check' through the NICS system that doesn't even record whether you're a mental case because of HIPAA restrictions that protect your lunacy -- much less that you're a foreign terrorist conspiring internationally with terrorists?

They just have to figure out who to buy off and at what price.
When you can write checks that won’t bounce, you can buy anyone.

I hope so to. However, Joe has five years to suck up to the voters. West Virginians tend to stick with an elected politician unless there’s a hint of corruption. Mollohan brought a lot of money to the state. When questions came up about some of his investments, he was a goner. Joe isn’t that stupid. The other side of the coin is the Republicans always pick the most lackluster, unexciting candidates possible. And rich ones to boot. Rich and inspiring is OK. Rich and dull is not.

I'm not sure about where Manchin's getting his info. Reid might have a little something to say to Manchin about dragging the gun grab out again. I don't think Ol' Harry's got the stomach for another shot at GC right now.

Elections are coming next year and the Dem's probably want to run away from this stuff as fast as they can right now.

“Since West Virginia isn’t a “recall” state, we are stuck with him until 2018...”

This is why I’m an advocate of all states having a recall procedure, not just the 17 or 18 states that currently have such a process.

NEVER TRUST THE GOP !
In short, the GOP is full of VILE members who'll sell us out in a heartbeat!

Here are the ones that I know about.
What do we do when our side is full of TRAITORS?
I submit the following for proof.

Check out this link, "Senate Republicans Willfully and Knowingly Lie to Their Constituents (vote to fund Obamacare)".And let's not forget Sen. John McCain, one of Conservatives worst enemies, saying 'I don't understand' GOP filibuster on guns.
Thanks to Cyropaedia for this:

Criminals don’t obey gun laws.

The federal government doesn’t enforce gun laws against criminals.

No one with the slightest bit of common sense believes anything the federal government says.

No one with the slightest bit of common sense trusts the federal government to obey the law itself, to enforce laws Obama and the democrats don’t like, or to keep promises made when trying to win votes or rally support.

RE :”Wait wait wait...so they're going to force red state Dems to vote for gun control in the middle of the general election?”

They figure that if they can get more GOP Senators to cave and vote for the bill after the primary, like that one from NH Kelly Ayotte who dived in the polls afterward, that it will give the Dems cover to vote for it.

If for example even more GOPs vote against it than this past time as Toomey might do then the Dems are shooting themselves.
