Question Time: Ukip leader Nigel Farage says UK can't deport Abu Qatada while part of EU

UKIP leader Nigel Farage said the UK won't be able to deport Abu Qatada while still part of the European Union (EU) on Question Time tonight.

The 49-year-old said the vast majority of the British public are frustrated the hate preacher has not been sent to Jordan to face terror charges.

However, the politician said while Britain are signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) we won't be able to deport Qatada.

Mr Farage said: "[The Conservatives] keep talking tough on human rights because the vast majority of the British public are enraged that they can't get rid of people like Abu Qatada.

"It isn't going to happen. This is classic of this Tory party and Theresa May."

Home Secretary Theresa May had suggested Britain may quit the European human rights pact to finally deport the extremist Muslim cleric.

She made the comments after the Court of Appeal refused to allow a challenge to a European legal ruling blocking Qatada's expulsion.

However, Mr Farage said he didn't believe this suggestion for a second and said it was almost short of politicking from the Conservatives.

The Ukip leader said: "We cannot be members of the European Union unless we are full signatories to the European Court in Strassbourg."

Mr Farage later added: "We've surrended the ability to make our own decision in our own courts."

The latest move to deport Qatada was blocked on the grounds that evidence obtained through torture could be used in his trial.

It's amazing that we cannot deport people from our own country because of the EU. We need out!

Question time is well worth a watch, you could do with something like that in America if you like to see your politicians put on the spot and squirm.

Anyway, Nigel Farage was on last night, and was on fire:

Ask yourself this—That would Henry VIII Do? or if you don’t want to go back that far—what would Churchill Do? Then do it! Remember St. George.

But the EU nations have no problem allowing their own home grown Islamic terrorists to travel to the Middle East to commit terrorist actions.

Nigel Farage Rocks!

I've been following him for a few years now. Since his famous 'Who In The Hell Do You Think You Are' speech to 'Van Rumpy' I really believe he is the only UK Pol that can save it from self destruction and one day -- pretty soon -- he will be the Prime Minister. [I wish wish he was one of 'ours']

I get all the news I can on Nigel. UKIP emails, YouTube Videos, and all the trash 'reporting' in the Brit Press w/ Google News Alerts. The mud slinging and name calling from the socialists isn't working so good now, the UKIP is getting VOTES! [did I mention I wish he was one of 'ours'? ;-)]

I even tried to donate to the UKIP. But unlike the crooked, communist, Obama Crime Cartel, they will not accept foreign money.

haha God bless you!

I have been very interested in politics for years now and I have never supported anyone in the same way I do Nigel Farage and UKIP. I honestly believe he is the last hope. If he fails, we are finished.

Next week it is election time, local elections and I truly believe there is going to be some real shock in the air.

I am starting a movement to exchange Nigel Farage for Piers Morgan.

Give them hell, Nigel!
Best Nigel Farage speeches (compilation, YouTube 16:45)

Farage, Barroso lock horns over Wikileaks, EU referendum YouTube, Dec 2010

The 2nd video is a hoot, that Barroso jasckass actually brags that he was elected IN SECRET by the EU Parliament. Which Barroso then says is a perfect example of democracy!

You're welcome. :-)

Thanks to Nigel Farage and the UKIP, hope is not lost. And IMHO those upcoming elections will show that. They'll also scare the hell out of the 'professional bureaucrats' (from the Tories to Labour and the assorted kooks, like Greens).
