So I am asking people familiar with tarps if that makes sense given what you see of Bomber getting INTO the boat.

I have a trap on my boat. You need to have tarp on very tight otherwise during a noreaster wind can get underneath the tarp and blow it off. If you loosen a strap in one small location or cut the strap on the side one could slide underneath the tarp. One thing I do all winter long is inspect the straps to ensure they haven't loosened. It is a habit of all boat owners.
