In fairness, the boat owner should be compensated for damage to his boat and any property damage to his home and grounds.

I agree... that man is a hero. He tipped off the police and/or FBI as soon as he saw the perp lying in his boat bleeding.

Greta Van Sustern had a pretty long interview with the man's stepson last night (last name is Duffy). It took them a good 30-40 minutes to get through to any of the authorities with their very important "tip". He said it was extremely frustrating... they kept getting busy signals, etc.

If the perp wasn't so weak, I have no doubt he would have escaped from the boat long before anyone got to him.

I watched the interview.

The stepson wasn’t talking about the police taking too long. The stepson was not at the house with the parents.

The Dad saw the bloody boat, checked it out, saw the body and called the police who immediately responded because they were already in the area.

After the police responded, the son turned the TV on and saw reports that police were at the parents address.

He tried calling for 30 minutes to the parents but could not
get a hold of the parents because, in a rush of being evacuated by police, they had left their cell phones behind.

He should get that boat onto Craigslist as is and sell it for $1MM

One thing I don't understand: If the perp was so weak, how could he exchange gun fire? How come there are no photos of his guns?

I wonder why they didn't just walk out in the street and flag down one of the 9,000 cops combing the area.
