If true, this is incredibly stupid. Because there is a strong possibility of continuing danger to the general public (explosives, etc. that haven't been located), officials can question him
without Miranda about dangers to the public, and statements he makes can be admissible.

The reports have been when there is an immanent danger to public safety they can over ride Miranda as an exception. Also reported he was 'severly injured' from firefight last night. They actually "extracted" him from the boat.
Giving him Miranda just increases the likelihood that he'll lawyer up... They're not interested in asking him questions about HIS crimes. They already have enough on him to convict and sentence him to death.
They want to find out what he knows about all the OTHER people involved, in exchange for a plea bargain of life in a pleasant prison.
