Attorney General Eric Holder expressed frustration and anger Thursday over the Senate's defeat of gun control legislation this week, but vowed he will continue to fight for measures to prevent gun violence.
Despite my disappointment and, quite frankly, my frustration and anger at the filibuster in the Senate yesterday that led to the failure to adopt some of those changes, despite the fact that a majority voted for them, I and my colleagues throughout the administration remain committed to standing with the families of Newtown, said Holder in testimony before the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday.
In pursuing the administrations gun control agenda, Holder told lawmakers that the Justice Department could stand to increase the number of cases it prosecutes against people who have been denied federal permission to purchase a gun because they failed to pass a criminal background check.
Many Republicans, such as committee member Rep. Andy Harris (Md.), have long criticized that the Justice Department prosecutes a small fraction of the more than 83,000 people it denies the right to buy a gun.
Republicans argue that no new background check laws should be implemented until the department steps up its prosecutions of those who are barred from buying guns but attempt to do so anyway.
Holder defended the departments actions, saying it prioritizes prosecutions based on who it feels would do the most harm to society if left unpunished.
What we try to do is focus on those people who are most dangerous, who, if they did get a weapon inappropriately, are most likely to do something bad [or] harmful with it, said Holder.
With those people who try to get guns and then are not prosecuted, yeah, the number perhaps ought to be a little higher, I dont know.
Not everybody who was denied a gun was in fact dangerous. There are a whole bunch of reasons why, he said. There were a host of people who, if they had gotten guns, undoubtedly would have done things that were harmful to their fellow citizens.
Harris shot back, But not bad enough to prosecute. He then switched topics in his line of questioning.
I’m feeling elation and joy at Holder’s frustration and anger. So it evens out.
Perhaps a few hours at the practice range would help.
Forward! More guns for Mexico!
“...my disappointment and, quite frankly, my frustration and anger at the filibuster in the Senate yesterday...”
There was no filibuster you dumb ass.
In retaliation he will run another 2500 weapons across the border.
I love to hear that all O’s slugs are angry and depressed and frustrated. We the People have won once again.
48,000 felons and fugitives illegally attempted to buy a gun in 2010. Holder prosecuted 44 of them. That’s 0.1%.
I hope he feels a coronary sometime soon.
Those people who would cause a problem if denied guns legally will get them illegally.
All they have to do is go to the Capitol city of this country , go in the right neighborhood, and buy them off the street.
High school kids in Anacostia know where to get guns.
"YOU have no right to any protection, stupid cracker.
Weapons are ONLY for terrorists and
those to whom we decide in Fast&Furious and our ArabSpring incitements."
Twilight zone administration. Newton has nothing to do with yesterday, nothing at all except for the fact that the propaganda and human-shielding possibly made the vote closer than it should have been.
Well, we feel frustration and anger over Holder’s handling of the voter-intimidation case vs the NBP, Fast and Furious, etc., etc...
So FY Holder. ESAD.
Tyrants don’t like being told no.
What about the families of Newark, Chicago or Detroit? Not the right color for the media spotlight. Not the right color for political expediency. And what about the families of Tijuana you shameless, phony hack?
How about some anger over the Boston Marathon terrorism, Holder?

“...but vowed he will continue to fight for measures to prevent gun violence.”
Then he will have to crack down on The Holder Jugend.
“Holder defended the departments actions, saying it prioritizes prosecutions based on who it feels would do the most harm to society if left unpunished.”
My “feelings” and Holder’s “feelings” are seriously at odds with one another.
They always play to win by cheating. When that fails, they still act as though they have been wronged. Their leadership is just corrupt; the followers are like a cult to me.
I don’t know. I’ve been feeling very angry since the Obamas moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
I was angry and sad after the terrorist attacks in Boston. O’s defeat was the one bright spot in my week.
There's such balance in nature. :-)
. . . we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
Barack, Eric, Nancy, Harry, and the rest - we're ready for you. We shall never surrender.
As a target?
When DEMS lose....America WINS! Sad that it has come to this.
Yes, Kool-Aid is the correct term!!!
You can always spot a Lefist, when the Constitution is upheld. The tears just don’t stop flowing...
Why heck, he didn’t even card the drug cartels he sold those AK47’s to.
eric, the majority of your colleagues didn’t vote for them, it’s why they failed to pass.
oh wait, he just admitted he only considers other democrats colleagues.
what a filthy piece of scum he is. utterly corrupt bastard. why don’t you go fast and furious yourself eric, right up your ass.
Impeached and disgraced Attorney General Eric Holder expressed his usual frustration and anger Thursday over the Senate's defeat of gun control legislation this week, but vowed he will continue to fight for measures to prevent gun violence.
I would hope that Mr. Holder would take a look at the real causes of gun violence in terms of mental balance, and ways of preventing the mentally challenged from getting guns. Instead, he seems to be measuring his success by taking guns away from responsible, tax paying, law abiding citizens. That approach is much easier. It probably pleases the low information folks that make up most of the voting bloc for the Democrats.
They can all feel good about themselves and not have to deal with actual data and statistics showing a positive correlation between gun ownership and lower crime rates.
Is this a joke? I knew Holder was stupid but, just wow.
Maybe he’ll get so depressed that he offs himself.
