One possible explanation offered up in an earlier post is that backward white hat would make it easier for his partner to spot him in the crowds.

I agree...But these are buddies and this scenario apparently requires they keep an eye on each other.

Also, I'm betting there's another cell member across the street or in a building taking a video.

And of course....all he has to do is remove his hat and he's a different person. I hope they checked the garbage cans around the corner.
