The rush to a bad gun-control law
The Washington Post ^ | 4/15/2013 | David Rivkin & Andrew Grossman

Those who support stricter gun control fear that the passage of time since the Dec. 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School will result in further watering-down of measures. They should not, however, discount the risk that attempts to shave a few weeks or months off the usual legislative process will result in bad laws, with unintended and lasting consequences.

While pro-gun forces may overstate the case against expanded background checks — they are not, for example, a prelude to disarming the citizenry — President Obama and his allies have understated the difficult legal questions posed by extending the background-check system to cover more sales and transfers.

Came across this article a few days ago. Really puts the gun-control debate into perspective. Obama and his cronies in Congress are so overly excited about passing more legislation there are overlooking important legislative processes. THANK GOODNESS Reid pulled the gun bill today, maybe he read the article too.

When a liberal goes out of his way to state what something is not ... you can be sure it is.

We need to stay focused!

Most of the news from the Obamanation Administration centers around topics that are designed to be just another Obamanation Smokescreen to divert the attention away from Obama managing each new Constitutional Crisis into a Regulation that violates the Constitution.

“Never let a Crisis go to waste,” is the rule that guides Commie Obama.

Examples of these Obamanation distractions are most of the social issues that get attention by the Liberal Agenda Media.

Our sorry Congressional RINOs have been to stupid to learn this smoke and mirrors distraction game, and run from bargain to bargain or deal to deal, with nary a thought to use REGULAR ORDER, as designed by our Founding Fathers to protect us from Tyrants such as B. Hussein Obama.

As any card-carrying Obamanation Journalist will tell you:

” - - - We must support Obama “ - - - TO FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - - - ” into a totally Regulated Communist Obamanation of Debt and Doom.

After all, how else can “- - - everyone get a fair shot?” - - - “

BTW, RECEIVING a “fair shot” would have been a lot easier if Commie Obama had succeeded in his personal recent attempted “bipartisan” destruction of the 2nd Amendment to disarm us - - - - .

While the expanded checks may not literally have been a prelude - no one said, for instance, "Well, once the checks are in we're going to confiscate all weapons" - it is as obvious as the fact that the Sun rises in the East that without knowing where the guns are it is impossible to confiscate them. In other words, such registration is a necessary precondition to confiscation, even if in some circumstances it would not inevitably lead to such.

The fact of the matter is that this country has, in its past, enslaved millions of people and perpetrated a genocide over a period of well over 100 years. Part and parcel of both was the fact that the victims were not armed (or, if they happened to obtain weapons, they were generally dealt with permanently and as quickly as possible). No, we are not our ancestors and history is not destined to repeat itself exactly. However, when it comes to such low probability, high impact events as slavery and genocide, I strongly prefer not to take any chances.

Keep telling yourself that. Maybe you really believe it. So did 10’s of millions of human beings killed after they allowed their governments to take their weapons......

I haven’t seen Congress do anything in 20 years that I found to be a reasoned, wise, and responsible solution after a lengthy debate on the merits or facts.

They pulled ObamaCare, too.

Never forget that. They said it was dead. Then they passed it.

A wheel is not a car. A lug nut is not a car. An engine is not a car. A windshield is not a car. Etc.

Put all of those small components together over time, however, and hey - you have a car.

Democrats are building a car one little piece at a time. But it's not to sieze your guns. They would never do that (unless you live in New York state, or California, or New Orleans after a hurricane).
