#BREAKING: According to @WuWCVB, an arrest in #BostonMarathon bombing is imminent or has already taken place.
1996 - Before arrest of Richard Jewell
Yep, instead it will take years and millions of dollars.
The local Boston Fox station’s streaming video said that they’re closing the courthouse for the day.
Try this live thread..seems to be good on the ground coverage but you have to refresh page frequently.
They are also still saying that an arrest is imminent.
Everyone who read that line hearing Tom Brokaw’s baritone drawl in their head, raise your hands.
The Brigham hospital was where the Saudi suspect was being treated, held after the bombings.
Thank you. Did they say if the Court House was still being swept, or is the bomb threat over?
Checking id’s in the crowd outside.
Coast guard helicopter flying overhead.
Precisely - I've maid this point a few times. What drives a lot of conspiracy stuff, stupid statements like "there are no coincidences" are people's understanding of the world being driven completely by TV and film.
Sure, there may be one red herring in a TV crime drama, or there may be a dramatic twist at the end, but what you don't have that the real world has is an immense amount of inaccurate, meaningless "noise." CSI doesn't have botched lab tests, or preliminary tests for a poison that turn out to be wrong. Crime movies only have witnesses that lie - they don't have witnesses that were simply mistaken. They don't have time to include all those things and they don't "move the plot" along.
Only a handful of movies may escape this - something like Kurosawa's Rashomon, and other remakes based on that same plot premise.
One reporter just said the bomb squad was pulling out.
Chopper circled back to refuel then will come back on station. As per radio chatter...
“Someone mentioned yesterday on another thread how a lot of FReepers used to be able to put their heads together and solve a lot of these things.”
Like on this thread...lots of research...
Hello. I believe we’re listening to the same scanner feed.
Green flag at courthouse - all ok?
Except I don’t watch TV shows. The only thing I watch is news and political blogs for the last 12 years.
It is no conspiracy that this administration is the most dishonest, incompetent and dangerous to the survival of this country we have ever known. Benghazi and Fast and Furious proves that. Now back to regular programming.
They have just reported the courthouse has been given the all clear.
Some people going back into court house now.
Just sent you FReepmail.
Thanks. Just read on the Boston news site that penelopespire linked that reporters are being allowed to move closer now, but only Fed employees are being allowed inside. If this isn’t a diversion, it sure has been weird.
Just sent you FReepmail.
The all-clear seems to have been issued, as reporters are being allowed to move a little closer
Thanks. Good catch.
heard the same thing - employees only being let back in.
My version had more of a “martini” slur to it...
They’ve been getting run ragged doing the “unattended backpack”/”suspicious bag” calls all day long.
The FBI has postponed the scheduled 5PM briefing due to the bomb scare at the courthouse.
So... they can’t multi-task???
Very true. Still have about three such calls active from the looks of it. They are hanging in there extremely well imho.
Wow....they could hold it elsewhere no?
In other news..GREAT NEWS..Tomey gun bill just went down to defeat!!
I don’t think the entire bill was defeated — just one of the many amendments.
54-46. I heard. Reid voted “no” which means he can bring it up for consideration later.
McCain voted Aye. Butt sucking jerkwad... Some of my first posts on FR were to express my dislike of McCain and his Quisling-esque liberalism.
Yep. The Toomeny-Manchin “compromise” amendment to the main bill.
I...guess...not. This has been an exceedingly odd day.
YAY! Thanks for the good news!
Thank god! Anyone know the vote?
For those wanting to get a good laugh at CNN’s expense while we wait for more breaking news..check out twitter hash tag #CNNreports....lol.
Just heard on ABC radio news that the Saudi student, former person of interest, is being released from the hospital today.
I just heard that the briefing has been cancelled.
“They should announce theyll be releasing him in South Boston at 5pm.”
...so that he could catch his flight back to the Middle East. His friends are already packed.
Why do people need to carry so much STUFF, anyway?
They all read the 4% polls yesterday. Dittos on McCain. Loser that needs to retire.
The VC really did a number on McCain.. His ability to pretend to be a patriot has all but worn off now.
I’d like to know why they ever allowed back packs to begin with. They do not allow back packs in DC at big gatherings....EVER! Would love to know who’s idea it was to allow them in Boston?!
what is the significance of the second pic with the guy in the green hat?...he looks like the same guy with the white hat...hair cut the same, same looking glasses....but hats different and backpacks are different....
BPD street cop just called in re cylindrical metallic object, taped off ends, found by National Guardsmand @ Clarendon & Appleton
It looks like we’re buttoning things up for today. The bomb scare at the courthouse was apparently given the all-clear. But, only federal employees of the court were allowed to come back inside. The large media pool was allowed to move closer to the courthouse in anticipation of the FBI’s scheduled 5PM EST briefing. Now there are reports that the briefing has been cancelled.
The Saudi student, former person of interest, is being released from the hospital today. The same hospital where there was a brief secuirty threat today too.
There are still conflicting reports as to whether an arrest was ever imminent today, or if the whole thing was a series of miscommunications.
Odd day altogether. I do think it quite possible that something is up still.
