"I will vote for assault weapons ban because maintaining law and order and saving lives is more important than preventing imagined tyranny."
Democrats/Liberals would love nothing better than recreating the 3rd Reich of old Nazi Germany...or at least some kind of tyrannical oppression Police State. N.Korea a shining light on the hill for the hardcore leftists.
Reid: "Protect your home and your family, to hunt, to target practice..you do not need an assault weapon to defend yourself or..property."
Reid: "We do not need to arm ourself against the army or the police. The United States is not out to get us." Wow. This will get blowback.
Reid talks about living in "the real world, not the conspiratorial world." I think his NRA grade is going down.
Reid talks about "keeping weapons of war off the streets." He is making a passionate (for him) defense of weapons ban.
Reid: "That's why I will vote 4 Dianne Feinstein's assault weapons ban." Derides those who "believe in conspiracy theories and false flags."
Reid also a YES on banning large magazines.
Reid says "when went bird-hunting you gave birds a sporting chance....don't people deserve as much protection as birds?" Um....
Reid: "I believe if we can save the life of a single American, we owe it to ourselves to try."
Reid talks of courage. "Today I choose to vote my conscience...." What about other days? #tooeasy
Reid appears emotional at end of speech. Very unusual for him, as was intensity and language of that speech on guns.
“The government is us”
a phrase used by leftists - look for it.
It justifies, in their minds, anything the government does.
Funny how Harry doesn’t fear tyranny but whenever a Republican wants to do something he acts like it will lead to tyranny.....
I blame the morons in Nevada that re=elected this moron. He should be in a nursing home drooling and talking to himself and not in the senate where his decisions affect all of us who DID NOT vote for him.
Every level of our government is heavily infested with tyrants both grand and petty. Reid is one of them, invoking Saul Alinsky.
Imagined?
Sure Harry!
Come down here where I live and I’ll show you imagined. The only cure for the Harry’s in the Senate...
Remaining comments self censored.
I noticed that they don’t seem to worship Cuba as much as they used to.
Heck, even China doesn’tget the fawning adulation it used to from the Left.
I’m SO sick of the “If we can save just one life” meme. What’s a life worth? In Obamaville, not much.
Many of the successes in the last ten years for gun rights have been non partisan. Iowa had a Democratic Governor sign a “shall issue” law.
But after Newtown, the Chicago machine went to work. The Dems are being pressured to fall in line.
The interesting thing is it isn't working as well as they hoped.
The bill will pass, and may pass the House (the only have to roll a dozen Rino’s), but it isn't going to be because of the NRA.
So, National Rifle Association... still going to grade this guy high?
There is an idea I can speak on.
Excuse me if I don’t.
Akin to waking the dead.
Not really possible.
With some notable exceptions found in scripture.
Imagined? We’re living through it right now.
"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."
-- Senator Hubert H. Humphrey (D) Minn., "Know Your Lawmakers" Guns (magazine), February, 1960, p. 4.
Harry Reid wouldn’t have perceived tyranny in 1776. He is what they called a Tory. He doesn’t see how we are starting to step over where the Founding Fathers drew the line.
Just waiting for an imagined rope...
I don’t think any of the proposals are going to pass this time around. Stack of about 9 votes this afternoon, starting around 4 pm.
Ask anybody who has dealt with the IRS if this tyranny is imagined.
